Description
Welcome to our small, family-run farm nestled in the beautiful Wells Gray region of British Columbia, where we're creating a unique Viking-inspired, off-grid agritourism destination.
Our vision is to combine sustainable farming, environmental stewardship, and unforgettable visitor experiences. Through our initiative, we're developing pollinator gardens, educational programs, apiary experiences, farm tours, and hands-on opportunities for guests to connect with nature. We raise chickens, keep honeybees, grow seasonal gardens, bake sourdough, and are preparing to welcome guests to our glamping accommodations.
We're looking for enthusiastic people who enjoy meaningful work, learning new skills, and becoming part of a creative project that's growing year by year. If you love nature, animals, gardening, building, hospitality, and sharing ideas around a campfire, we'd love to meet you! -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We believe the best cultural exchange happens through meaningful conversations, shared experiences, and meeting people from all over the world. Throughout the summer we welcome visitors from many different countries to enjoy our Viking-inspired off-grid agritourism experience, giving Workawayers the opportunity to interact with guests and share in the welcoming atmosphere of the farm. While we enjoy spending time together, we also value personal space and independence. There will be opportunities to help alongside us, learn about beekeeping, gardening, chickens, pollinators, agritourism and rural life in British Columbia, but there is also plenty of time to explore the Wells Gray region or relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings. We love hearing about different cultures, traditions, languages and ideas, and encourage Workawayers to share their own experiences with both us and our guests. Our hope is that everyone leaves with new skills, lasting friendships and a genuine connection to this beautiful part of Canada.

Help
Every day is a little different here! Depending on the season and your interests, you may help care for our chickens and honeybees, tend vegetable and pollinator gardens, assist with general farm and property maintenance, harvest produce, prepare firewood, or lend a hand with creative projects around the farm.
We also welcome help with photography, social media, woodworking, painting, small building projects, and educational displays for Hearth & Hive, our nonprofit pollinator-education initiative.
We’re looking for positive, self-motivated people who enjoy working outdoors and aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty—or help create something that wasn’t there before. Experience isn’t always necessary, as we’re happy to teach. A strong work ethic, genuine interest in the projects, creative ideas, curiosity, a good attitude, and willingness to learn are often more valuable to us than already knowing how to do everything.
While there is always something happening on a farm, we believe in balancing productive days with plenty of time to explore Wells Gray Provincial Park, relax beside the river or around the campfire, and enjoy the beauty of rural British Columbia.
**Our current placements are cultural exchanges. Help is provided in exchange for accommodation and learning experience; we are not currently offering paid employment during our off Season.**
Spring and summer are the best times to visit if you are looking for a longer stay and the greatest variety of farm, garden, animal-care, and outdoor projects.
Help may include:
* Grounds and property maintenance, including mowing, weeding, clearing and seasonal cleanup
* Gardening and harvesting
* Feeding, walking and caring for farm animals
* General farm and homestead maintenance
* Cutting and stacking firewood
* Creative and educational projects
* Painting, woodworking and small DIY projects suited to the Workawayer’s skill level
* Other non-commercial farm or property projects agreed upon before arrival
Also:
• Creating educational displays, signage and visitor materials
• Preparing the nonprofit’s outdoor education area
• Photography, writing and educational content for Hearth & Hive
• Small building, painting and woodworking projects for the initiative
• Seasonal preparation and cleanup directly connected with the nonprofit project
• Learning about honeybees, pollinators and rural stewardship
We begin winding down after summer and close the property for winter around October 31. During September and October, we may still welcome Workawayers for shorter stays, particularly stays of two weeks or less. Our accommodation and outdoor facilities are seasonal and are not suitable or available after November 1.
Fall stays focus primarily on preparing the farm for winter. Projects may include caring for animals, weeding and closing the gardens, cutting and stacking firewood, seasonal cleanup, general property maintenance, and helping with creative or educational Hearth & Hive projects.
The expected help and schedule will be discussed clearly before arrival. We can often arrange the schedule so that Workawayers spend part of their stay helping with projects and part of it exploring the Wells Gray area.
These exchanges are best suited to independent travellers who are interested in rural living, practical learning, contributing to seasonal farm projects, and having time to explore. They are not suitable for anyone seeking full-time or seasonal paid employment.
Because we are in a rural location, all Workawayers must have their own reliable vehicle for the entire stay. Our personal vehicles are not available to borrow, and we cannot provide regular transportation into town. -

Accommodation
Workawayers will stay in one of our beautifully furnished glamping tents, nestled beside the river in our peaceful Viking Vale. This is one of the most sought-after locations on the property, offering a quiet, relaxing space surrounded by nature—perfect for unwinding after a day on the farm. The tent features a real bed with comfortable bedding, outdoor seating, a picnic table, and your own outdoor camp kitchen for preparing meals. Shared washroom facilities are available nearby. Evenings are often spent listening to the river, watching the stars, or enjoying the tranquility of the surrounding forest. It's a unique opportunity to experience comfortable off-grid living in one of British Columbia's most beautiful rural settings. You WILL see the Northern Lights at times and one clear nights the stars are amazing.

What else ...
We're building something special here, and we're looking for people who are excited to be part of that journey. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys nature, creativity, learning new skills, and contributing ideas. We value kindness, respect, initiative, and open communication. There is always plenty to do, but we also believe in taking time to enjoy a beautiful sunset, listen to the river, or explore Wells Gray Provincial Park on your days off. As an introverted family, we appreciate a balance between working together and having our own personal space, and we strive to create an environment where everyone feels comfortable and at home. If you're looking for a meaningful experience, enjoy meeting visitors from around the world, and would like to help build a unique Viking-inspired agritourism destination from the ground up, we'd love to hear from you.
A driver's licence and your own vehicle is essential. Because we're located in a rural area, applicants should be comfortable living close to nature and working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. -

Can host digital nomads
We welcome digital nomads! Our schedule is flexible, and we're happy to work around reasonable online work commitments as long as we communicate and plan together. We understand that many Workawayers are balancing remote work with travel, and we value reliability and flexibility on both sides. Because we're located in a peaceful rural setting, This is a wonderful place to focus, create, and recharge. Wi-Fi is available, and you'll have your own private glamping accommodation where you can work or relax during your free time. We simply ask that agreed-upon farm responsibilities are completed and that everyone communicates openly so we can plan the week together. We believe in balance. There are busy days on the farm, but there is also time to enjoy the river, explore Wells Gray Provincial Park, meet visitors from around the world, and experience life at a slower pace.

Space for parking camper vans
In addition to our glamping accommodations, the location offers four spacious dry RV sites, each thoughtfully positioned to take advantage of the incredible mountain and valley views that make this area so special. Every site includes a picnic table, BBQ, and a private fire pit (when seasonal fire restrictions allow), creating the perfect place to relax after a day of exploring Wells Gray or helping on the farm. As these are unserviced sites, campers and motorhomes should arrive self-contained. Fresh water is available near the property from a creek ( where we source our water), and guests will need to periodically refill their water tanks and empty black and grey tanks at nearby service facilities. If you're looking for peaceful surroundings, stunning scenery, and a true off-grid farm experience rather than a traditional RV park, you'll feel right at home here.
