Help
We are a youth hostel, located in a 1930s building built by Italians. We run the whole place, which hosts the youth center alongside the hostel. We do a lot of youth exchanges, workshops and events, giving you a chance to meet a ton of people from all over the place.
Our team performs the following tasks according to the interests and knowledge:
- board games night;
- taking care of common areas in the youth center
- taking care of surroundings of the youth center (watering plants, cleaning, cutting grass);
- helping our volunteers creating events and other activitiesLanguages

We're a multilingual team and we're happy to talk to you in your native language, so that we give you as much commodity as we possibly can :) since we are all young by age and by heart we understand how important it is to feel welcome and supported.Accommodation
We offer a room with 2 or 3 beds for 2 or 3 Workaway volunteers to share, fresh linen and towels, bathroom and free Wi-Fi. During the low season, volunteers may have a private room, if available. We offer one warm meal per day. We also have a new and fully functional kitchen in which volunteers can prepare their own meals. A supermarket is only a few minutes walk away downhill.
What else ...
Although it is a town of only 5,000 people Idrija has plenty to offer; both in the town center, and surrounding region. Volunteers can learn about Idrija’s history by taking a guided tour in the old mercury mine, visiting the castle and its museum exhibitions, learning about the rich history of bobbin lace, enjoying traditional dishes such as Idrijski žlikrofi, and exploring the incredible surrounding nature, with plenty of possibilities for hiking, cycling, flyfishing, rock climbing and swimming. You can visit the protected Dive Jezero, or Wild Lake, with its rich plant life, a 3.5 km light forest walk from the hostel. If you’re looking for a more challenging hike, you can visit the mountain huts and hills, offering beautiful views of the valley. In winter, for some fresh air and adrenaline you can enjoy the Cerkno Ski Centre, 27 km from Idrija.
Idrija is well connected to the Ljubljana, the capital city of Slovenia, with regular bus lines daily. The coastal region is a 1.5 hour drive away by car, and for alpine enthusiasts Triglav National Park is also a 1.5 hour drive away.
Come experience the Slovenian way of life, in our picturesque UNESCO town of Idrija! We look forward to hosting you!A little more information

The whole team was super open, talkative and I felt comfortable and welcomed from day one.
The work was not hard at all - basically to help keeping the place tidy - and thanks to the work schedule I've been able to enjoy a lot of the surroundings and of Slovenia.
