    Description

Located in scenic West Wales, close to Cardigan town, we are a low-impact, permaculture-based family of three, including a 4yr old girl, who have recently gained planning permission under the Welsh One Planet Development scheme. This is a Welsh government scheme which permits planning in the countryside for people who live off the land, who build 'zero-carbon' buildings and live a lifestyle which is positive for the ecology and culture of the local environment. We strongly believe in social-transitioning, low-impact living, permaculture and zero-waste, and are able to demonstrate that a normal household can live a good life whilst also being very environmentally conscious and sensitive. We do ethically raise livestock and slaughter for meat but only sparingly (for environmental reasons) but also support vegetarian ethics and beliefs.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

West Wales is bolt-hole away from the maddening rush of the modern world. Old world values and charm. Plenty of beautiful villages and towns in the area full of traditional, Welsh character. As a family we embrace transition thinking and permaculture and are able to offer an engaging experience into low-impact, holistic, natural living. We are well traveled ourselves and are able to engage visitors with broad and open minds.

We have pigs, chickens, ducks, geese, bees to manage as well as large amount of landscaping and building work to do. Lots of experience possible in animal husbandry, fruit and veg growing, land management and low-impact, natural building. 25 hours-a-week work. No experience required but a willingness to pitch in and do is a must.

    Accommodation

We are able to offer a fitted out caravan for accommodation for a single person or a co-sleeping couple. Home-grown meat or vegetarian meals included. If you have any strict dietary requirements, though, please discuss these with us. We do eat seasonally so meal variety is a little restricted at certain times of the year (normally April-July).
