Hello, I am an artist and professor at a local college in Nashville. I love meeting people visit from all over. I recently bought a home that needs some development and am looking for people with experience to help in basic construction and/or gardening/landscape design. I'd love for people who want a cultural exchange to be important to them. Sometimes, I would like someone here who is skilled in visual arts. :) I am also looking for someone who knows a lot about health and fitness.
I should say however that Nashville is not a walking city. You need a car to get around if you want to explore.
If you love classic American country music, Nashville (aka Music City) is a great place to be. The city offers a bounty of delicious southern comfort food and has a great nightlife/bar scene. Staying in Nashville is incredibly expensive, so you can crash with me free for a little work exchange. We can't offer meals but you can do your own cooking.
I'll take you around as well and hope to make friends with my guests.
Update December 2019:
I will be looking for help for indoor projects and require a person skilled in general carpentry.
Here are the projects in the queue:
1. Build Staircase to loft
2. Build Storage shelving
We follow a daily schedule and prepare all meals on site. Workaway hours are 25 per week, about 5 hours per day, 5 days a week. Outside of workaway time there are daily household chores and communal cooking requirements like baking bread or grilling. We eat homemade pasta for instance so the food is delicious but it takes time to make it and clean up. Everything is written down on a daily calendar for workaway guests to refer too. Workaways help with the cats.
The house is located just outside the center of the city. You do need a car or you can take lyft/uber. The transportation system in Nashville is predominately by car. You will sleep in the loft, which you will be working on to make more private. :) There is a inflate-able bed on the floor with fresh linens. There is a washer and dryer in the house as well. I will do the laundry. Two cats and a dog live here too. Sometimes I dog sit/board at the house to make extra money.
There is a lot to do here is you love food and music! There is always good music being performed. Nashville is unpretentious too with a good mix of people young and old. It's very cool to go to the honkey tonks (traditional country music bar) and here people ages 18 or 80 know the lyrics to the same song.
Also, the core values of this household lean to the left. We respect and support the disabled, people of color, women, the LGBTQ community, veterans, animals and the environment.
