    Description

    Hello and welcome!

We are Thérèse and Henk from the Netherlands, and we have found our dream home in the peaceful countryside of Vila Nova da Baronia, in the heart of Portugal's beautiful Alentejo region, just 25 minutes from the historic city of Évora.

We love opening our home to people from all over the world. For us, Workaway is about so much more than getting help with a project—it's about meeting wonderful people, sharing experiences, learning from each other's cultures, and creating memories together.

Most of the help takes place outdoors, but we always make sure there's a great balance between working, relaxing, and enjoying life. Expect good food, lots of laughs, interesting conversations, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere where you'll quickly feel like part of the family.

During your stay, you'll have plenty of free time to explore the beautiful Alentejo, visit charming villages and local markets, discover the amazing city of Évora, or simply relax and enjoy the peace, nature, and spectacular sunsets around our quinta.

Our biggest wish is that you arrive as a guest and leave as a friend. If you're looking for an authentic Portuguese countryside experience, enjoy working outdoors, and love meeting genuine people, we'd love to welcome you.
We can't wait to meet you and share this adventure together!

    Warm greetings,
    Thérèse & Henk

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Life here in Vila Nova da Baronia is calm and simple, and we love sharing that with others. We’ve been living in Portugal for a while now and enjoy mixing a bit of Dutch spirit with the relaxed Portuguese way of life.

We like to cook and eat together — sometimes local Portuguese comfort food, sometimes Dutch ore international dishes with ingredients from the market or our garden. Mealtimes are always a good moment to chat, laugh, and exchange stories about our different backgrounds and experiences.

You can practice your English or Dutch, pick up some Portuguese, and get to know our friendly neighbours and local traditions.

For us, cultural exchange is really about connection — sharing everyday life, learning from each other, and creating nice memories together

  • Help

    Help

We would love to welcome Workawayers during the first three weeks of October for a stay of around 10 days. The main help will be harvesting olives and pruning our trees. Most of the help is outdoors, and we always try to make it an enjoyable experience with good company, delicious food, and plenty of time to share stories and experiences. We look forward to welcoming people who enjoy nature, working outdoors, and being part of life on our quinta.
