We were glad to host Lukas on the ranch.
He is a self starter and helped us complete several projects during his stay. Lukas has a great work ethic and will be an asset to any host.
He was also incredibly flexible with the tight schedule and the open days we had for his visit.
We recommend to other potential hosts.

I spent six days at Alex and Doug’s ranch. I arrived around 5am and they picked me up right from the airport. Right after a few hours a true Texas experience began; working cattle together with Doug and good friends of his, Jason, a real life Cowboy, his son, Blaire, expert in everything fishing and Wes, who we built a porch with. It’s nothing

Our daily routine was early breakfasts around 7:30 and then starting to work, with breaks and a lunch break and we would finish early afternoons. I helped build the deck on the farmhouse, cleaned a pond, cut brush on pond islands, took away branches, cleaned the paddle boat and workshed floor. It is physical ranch work which was great for me personally after a semester of mainly working my brain during my studies. I got to use new tool and vehicles which was great. The afternoons/ early evenings were off and all the amenities were available for use. I used the UTV to explore the property, we played pool and pinball and enjoyed the pool. Alex and Doug are very welcoming and great to talk to. Their ranch is quiet, peaceful and wholesome. I wish I had the opportunity to stay longer as after six days I was only starting to settle in and really starting to benefit from the tranquility this place has to offer. I therefore highly recommend visiting Alex and Doug and staying 2 weeks or longer if you can.
Thank you Alex and Doug (and Luna) for welcoming me so kindly and introducing me to Texan hospitality, your friends, and the Texan ranch life. All the best! You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

I was having the best time on Alexandra's and Doug's ranch! The whole place is huge and beautiful, having lots to explore and see. I got welcomed with open arms and had some interesting talks with my hosts. I wasn't quite sure what to expect with my first workaway experience, but I would find it hard to believe if someone said I could have had a better first experience anywhere else. Staying with Doug and Alex was absolutely amazing, especially in regards to their hospitality and generosity. I enjoyed all the aspects of my stay, from everyone having
… read more dinner together in the evening to being able to play a part in cleaning up the ranch to make it an even greater scene of beauty. I even got to stay in the little cabin in the woods the week after it was finished, which was nice and peaceful especially being able to go to sleep with the sound of the leaves rustling as the wind swept through the forest. According to what other workawayers need to get done via the internet, it can be a bit spotty, so if needed, there is a nice little library a little over 20 minutes away in Royse City, C.F. Goodwin Public Library. There are also a couple within 18 minutes but I can not attest to their capabilities. I would just like to again thank Doug and Alex for a wonderful introduction into the world of workaway and a great experience that I'll never forget. You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

Phillip (Calvin) has been a pleasure to host. He is incredibly dedicated to completing a task.
During Phillip’s stay he helped clear brush on trials, haul tree limbs and general clean up.
He also helped with a work shop project we have been working on where he was able to put his carpentry skills to use.
He requires little direction and is a

Phillip’s easy going demeanor and willingness to help is refreshing and we are so glad to have been able to host him.
Besides his strong work ethic he is certainly mature for a young man his age and even more polite.
During Phillip’s stay we were treated to a delicious meal. One even our other workaway guest raved about for days; and she is a personal chef. We hope you are lucky enough to share a meal with Phillip.

I absolutely loved staying with Alex and Doug. They made my first workaway experience a real joy. I stayed for 2 weeks before taking a trip to Mexico after which I’m heading back to stay with them a little longer!
