Description
Hello and welcome! We are Ingibjörg Sesselja (39), Ragnar Aron (39), and our son Esjar Ingi (6). We reside in the town of Keflavík, nestled on the Reykjanes peninsula in a peaceful neighborhood surrounded by friends and family. We’re fortunate to be just 35 minutes away from Reykjavík, offering both tranquility and easy access to the capital’s vibrancy.
Iceland is renowned for its breathtaking natural beauty, and living here feels like a daily adventure in one of nature’s most stunning playgrounds. From the awe-inspiring waterfalls and geysers to the tranquil fjords and rejuvenating hot springs, the landscapes around us are truly a feast for the senses.
Although this is our first time hosting on Workaway, we bring with us a wealth of experiences from living abroad and traveling extensively. We are excited to open our doors to new cultures and experiences, viewing this as a wonderful opportunity to learn from our guests while sharing the rich tapestry of Icelandic traditions and our way of life. We can’t wait to embark on this cultural exchange journey with you, creating meaningful connections and unforgettable memories.Types of help and learning opportunities

Family Integration: We warmly invite you to become part of our family. Whether it’s joining us for daily activities, family outings, or local events, we’re eager to share our Icelandic traditions with you while learning about your unique culture.
Language Exchange: This is an excellent opportunity to practice and enhance your English or pick up some Icelandic phrases. We’re enthusiastic about language learning and look forward to exchanging phrases from your native tongue as well.
Culinary Exchange: Immerse yourself in Icelandic cuisine by learning to prepare traditional dishes with us. We’re equally excited to try your recipes, making mealtimes a delightful way to connect and share our culinary heritage.
Exploring Nature: Discover Iceland’s awe-inspiring landscapes, from geothermal wonders to majestic waterfalls and scenic hiking trails. We’re happy to share our favorite spots and might even accompany you on some adventures. Through these experiences, you’ll also gain an appreciation for our commitment to preserving the environment.
Local Traditions: Engage with the local community and participate in Icelandic customs, whether in daily life or during special celebrations. We’ll introduce you to the cultural fabric that makes our community unique.
Football Culture: Experience the passion of Icelandic football through our son’s involvement and Ragnar’s active role with the local team. This offers a unique insight into a sport that holds a special place in our community.
What We Hope to Learn
Hosting Workawayers is as much about learning for us as it is for you. We’re excited to gain new perspectives, understand different cultural traditions, and explore fresh ideas, especially in the realms of food, travel, and everyday life. Our hope is to build lasting friendships and create a nurturing environment where both you and our family can grow from this shared experience.Projects involving children

Help
We are seeking assistance with basic home activities, occasional childcare, and cooking 1-2 times per week. The help hours are very flexible, and we ensure that you will have plenty of time to explore the area and pursue your own interests.
The childcare mainly involves spending time with our son, which gives us the flexibility to enjoy a night out or work a bit longer on occasion. We would love for you to bring your unique skills and personality into our home, making this experience mutually rewarding.Languages
