We are a NGO located in a newly restored building near by the dead sea. We opened a cafe to get fundraising to support and fundraise our projects. We provide a traditional, local experience offering proper Jordanian cuisine, tea and coffee. On the land we recycle/upcycle as much as we can, what we use, and for example we collect car tires. When time permits, we can arrange tours, buses, meetings, events. We also teach some teenagers from the surrounded communities about environment .
The center is located in a critical area where climate change and environmental pollution are quickly eroding Jordan's landscape, which interferes with the natural cycle. The Dead Sea is endangered each year as the water level decrease is greater than a meter.
We would like some help with turning concepts into implemented projects. The center aims at conserving water. The major problem is water scarcity and it is the main reason behind the imbalance between nature and industry.
An example of renewability offered by this community is a grey water system that reduces energy and water consumption. Our goal is to create a training center to share knowledge with our community. We promote grey water systems at 3 schools. We would like people with experience and interest in the environment and it is important for volunteers to be self reliant and work well with people. If the culture of Jordan really interests you, this place is for you.
The centre is located in Al Mazra'a, Al Karak, in view of the Dead Sea in the Jordan valley. This city was known for its sugar and water mills. We have created a community space for ordinary but determined people dedicated for change. We are in the city and next to the highway where there are many canyons and hot springs nearby.
Welcome to Mazra'a!

Travelers can practice their Arabic language skills and also learn about the traditions and heritage of the country as well as our region in particular. They additionally have the opportunity to learn about the desert valley environment. We share our culture and every day life in our Arabic family /local community which is very interesting for you to see and be immersed into our traditional life style.
The mission of our NGO is to promote a flourishing economy in the Jordan valley.
We are looking for people that could stay a minimum of 3 weeks. It is better for us and for the volunteers to get properly involved in the project and be more efficient.
The work could involve anything from fundraising, to building, to cleaning, to designing recycling projects.
Some examples of help needed :
1: Sustainable tourism
This place is one of our main economic resource for the realization of our projects and the prosperity of them.
Welcoming tourists and make them feel comfortable is important as well as offering them a good service.
We would appreciate some help with the cafe and some organization throughout the day.
We also organize lunches for G adventures groups and offer them a tour around the site to explain them more about who we are and what we do. Spreading the word about us is very important and people can understand the real situation of Jordan and especially in this area.
2: Sustainable building
We would love to have more volunteers to keep on doing some work around the site. That could be building involving grey water and upcycling activity. If you have skills in those fields, ideas let's work together ! If you are creative just come and leave your mark. Anything from ideas, painting skills, building or even gardening is welcome.
3 Extra help on teaching english
As our staff do not speak very much english they would be pleased to have face to face conversations with internationals to improve the language. It is important for the communication as much as for the business. They are all lovely and keen to learn!
