Nestled in the Groot Marico River Valley in the North West Province of South Africa you will find a space in the bushveld where some crazy guys are doing some crazy permaculture, natural building and working towards a self-sustainable future. Although much of the observation and experimenting has been dealt with in the past few years there is still a lot to learn and do and as much knowledge to share.

We usually start the day just after sunrise and work until the sun bakes the fat out of our bodies. We then spend doing odd tasks in the shade of trees or just lay about doing our own things like reading or having lively discussions until about 3PM.
Harvesting also happens early mornings in order to prepare the produce in whatever way it needs to be preserved, this include natural fermentation of vegetables (Kraut, Kimchi) or dehydrating in the solar dehydrator.
You will also be asked to help with school groups who come over weekends for a introduction to permaculture workshops. Meals served are the same as for the permanent members on the farm and predominantly vegetarian.
Volunteers are offered tented accommodation with clean bedding on arrival. Hot water is provided by solar geyser for a sunshine shower after a days work on the farm. Dry composting toilets are available as well as a orchard toilet which gets moved about in the fruit forest.
On days off or time off we usually go fishing and swimming in the river or take a walk to the village. Other activities include day trips and picnics to beautiful nature spots in and around Groot Marico, Day trips to the Nature Reserves in the area can also be arraigned.
