Olá!
We are a Portuguese couple with a little more than 50 years :) and we have a cozy restaurant in Pico Island, Azores, just opened for the summer (2026 will be our 5th year).
"She", Ana, has always worked in hospitality, especially in customer care: "I care with small details. I'm committed, friendly, cheerful, calm, rigorous and responsible. "
"He", António, takes care of the accounts and loves to cook: "I love nature, that I always try to protect, working with wood and cooking."
The restaurant is in an old building made of lava stones, which in the past was an old press where wine - Verdelho - was produced. It's located in front of the sea (inside the house we have no view to the sea, however with a stunning view to Pico mountain), 5 minutes distance by car to the airport and 10 minutes distance to the pier to catch the ferry to Faial Island (30 min distance) and S. Jorge Island (1 hour distance).
It will be open between June and September just for dinner. It has 40 seats. We expect Portuguese clients and also from other countries, such as US, Canada, Switzerland, Netherlands, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Belgium, etc.

Pico has the highest mountain in Portugal (2351mt). People from Pico - Picarotos - are very kind and friendly. Also very religious. They love to celebrate friendship. In summer we have lot of religious parties all over the island. Many years ago the Picarotos transformed the landscape producing wine. Nowadays it's classified by UNESCO as a world heritage landscape. It's unique!
With us, if you don't have experience but are curious, you can learn how to work in a restaurant, wait tables, serve food, prepare cocktails, serve drinks, learn how to create great experience's for guest's. Who knows, maybe even follow this area in the future... We are 2 in the base team and expect to have more 4 people for temporary work . We live in the same house than the workawayers. We expect to have all the meals together and have the opportunity to know each other, teach and learn about other cultures and experiences. We will love to cook for you to show you how Portuguese food is delicious but, if you like to cook we will also love to learn your eating habits :).Host offers payment in line with the minimum wage

We are looking for someone to help us in a beautiful place, in a magic island, for the kitchen for the whole season (Jun-Sep).
We need happy, fun and communicative people who enjoy working. If you think it's for you, please contact us.
Even if you dont't have a lot of experience it will be helpful if you've already been through the restaurant area to get an idea of how it works and love to cook.
We will be open just for dinner.
The restaurant probably will be open from 6:30pm to 11pm. During the day you can enjoy your free time.
We will offer you bed linen, laundry and main meals. We will pay you the Portuguese national minimum wage in effect (when you work 8h/day) and the equivalent per hour when you work less.
Depending of your nationality, you need to ensure that you have the correct visa or work permit required by the Portuguese law.

Accommodation
The room is located by the sea. You will hear it very well :). The room has 40m2 and is shared by 4 people. Each individual space has a bed and a wardrobe and its separated from the others by screens. So easily you will hear sounds and see lights. It has no privacy for couples. It will be fun to come with a group of friends however the days off will always be on different days. One bathroom to share. We'll love that you eat with us, together. It's in the same building than the restaurant. We also have a room there.
What else ...
Just in front of the house we have the sea so you can have a bath everyday. You can walk, rent and ride a bike or a car to explore the island. Visit the 2 others islands near Pico (Faial and S. Jorge).

During this period she was always available to do everything needed, full of energy and with an excellent relation with the clients.
Despite she had experience as waitress, she was always available to improve and/or change procedures. Kata was a very good help!
