I took over this lodge almost four years ago and have done quite a bit of renovation and made some exciting improvements. It is now time to start addressing our marketing needs and I could use some help. I am Danish but I have lived in Belgium for 15 years before moving to Tanzania.
We have a great staff and would welcome workawayers who are looking for longer term stays (preferably 1-2 months) who have experience with website design (WIX), SEO, social networking (e-mail groups/mailing lists, FaceBook, Instagram, YouTube etc.). I will also require help with some market research on the web: Identifying specialised Travel Agents and Tour Operators in Europe; putting together Flyers with special offers; creating mailing lists etc. You should also be willing to teach computer skills to our receptionists. In addition to the above-mentionned experience, you need to be very patient as our internet connection is via mobile modem, only works close by the seaside/pool and very slow! We can accommodate two 'workawayers' at a time if you're a couple! One challenging obstacle will be the visa rules here in Tanzania: Even for non-remunerated work, a Business Visa is necessary and only lasts three months....anything more is very complicated and expensive! We provide breakfast/dinner and accommodation, but you will have to pay for drinks and lunch (at half the public rates).
We are located on a beautiful bay on the Indian Ocean with a quiet beach 4 kms from historic Pangani. Wonderful snorkeling, river cruises, walking, and bird watching during free time! Weather never gets below 24 degrees C and can get up to 36 C with humidity, so loose cotton clothing!
We maintain a reputation for our guests feeling at home, providing them excellent food and service.
Helping with Tourists
Help with Computers / internet
You will learn to be part of a tight but informal team in a real African context. You will experience how to overcome and solve problems in an environment that is challenging compared with the western developed world. You will, most importantly, get a chance to befriend and work with the wonderful local staff in ways not available to tourists and casual visitors to Tanzania.
