    Description

We are a warm and friendly family who live in Speyside, Moray NE Scotland in an idyllic and tranquil valley at the foot of Ben Rinnes, Moray's highest mountain. We are surrounded by wildlife and natural beauty and have spectacular views of the dark night sky.

We are vegetarian, practice permaculture, no-dig gardening and living a simple life. We work from home as foster carers and have our own small business, a quirky holiday home, built using the local, plentiful and renewable materials of wood, straw, stone, earth, lime and clay.

We love our space, it's pretty special. We would like to invite Workaway volunteers to join us to make it even more special. Each Workaway we have hosted has left their own legacy as we encourage creativity and embrace diversity!

Our projects for 2021 include nurturing our no-dig garden, creating a live willow structure in the Fairy Glen, designing and building an outdoor kitchen.

We are keen to host volunteers who have some experience in natural building. Experience in permaculture or making live willow structures would be a bonus, but enthusiasm and energy are also very welcome! This year, for reasons of safety, we will only be hosting people from the UK.

We are a Scottish family living a low impact life and would be happy to share our passion for eco/heritage building, low impact living, local food production and Scottish culture with volunteers. I like to listen to our volunteers and find out what they would like to learn and share, then work up a schedule from there. We are very flexible and supportive in our approach!

Due to the global pandemic, we have decided that this year we will only host people based in the UK. Our preference is to host people with experience in natural building, permaculture, and making live willow structures. We also welcome those who would simply enjoy being part of a nature-loving family for a month or so, and be willing to muck-in to help build an outdoor kitchen, with gardening tasks and share the communal cooking. We welcome creative ideas to make our space even more magical with fairy houses and hidden wonders! We also welcome help with the shared home cooking and breadmaking.

You will have your own private, cozy and quirky, hobbit-style glamping pod with a double bed, toilet, shower, cooking facilities and a wood-burning stove. The pod is brand new this year (2021) and we're very excited to add it to our place!
There are laundry facilities on-site and we are approx 5 miles from the nearest shops. We have bicycles and safety helmets available for your use.
You will eat breakfast in your own place and share lunch and dinner with us in the family kitchen.
Weekends are yours to do as you please and I'm happy to take you exploring by car when time permits.
