Description
Hi everybody, we are Tommaso and Enrica. In Summer 2023 we decided to move from Florence to a charming wood in the mountains, not far from the city, with our two kids (Lauro and Lunaria, respectively 9 and 7 yo) e two cats (Zecca and Tino).
We needed more space, let's say. And we got it: cross the entrance door and you step li
Our home lies next to Bivigliano, a tiny village clung on steep hills, between Florence (just 15 km away) and the plain of Mugello. Trespass the door and you step straight in the woods.
So we started renewing the home, planting the kitchen garden, reorganizing the place, and in summer 2024 Enrica inaugurated a domestic B&B, mostly dedicated to hilkers.
Most important of all, we started enojyng what nature is offering around: fresh air, plenty of hikes -the hills around are simply packed with trails, both short, as the one to Monte Senario monastery, and long, as Via-degli-Dei , a six-days hike connecting Florence and Bologna. And then seasonal food for free - mushrooms, chestnut, wildberries, all a pleasure to harvest, firewood (sometimes less a pleasure) to collect, and all the wild creatures, from shrew to wildboars, that inhabit the woods and became our new neighbours.
My father Sergio lives nearby , has a small piece of land we are slowly cultivating, too and is at home with us almost everyday.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Currently we are quite sedentary, so we really will appreciate a bit of the world to come visit us, not doing the other way round.
You'll get a full-immersion into the life of an average italian family (Enrica is an eclectic cook, so you won't suffer malnutrition), honestly obsessed on plants, animals, fungi and allies (I'm a naturalist, part-time working around Tuscany), with some artsy presumptions (lately pottery) and a tendency to chat with no-matter-who .
Oh, and we do have some flaws, too.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
We would really appreciate some help during everyday tasks, like collecting firewood, caring for the kitchen garden, some routine maintenance or help in the kitchen - all come so easier when done in two. In the meanwhile, also the land aspires to some special care: our terraced, wooden garden has been neglected for decades before we moved in, so there will be satisfaction for people who love spending the afteeernoon with a shovel in the hand, or weaving willow-fences.
We will share what we are able to do, sometimes perhaps learning all together how to do something new. Obviously there would be space for a new proposal, every now and then, according to personal talents and interests.Languages

You'll stay in a room with private bathroom at the ground floor of the house ( actually, that is one room of our B&B that is free, during seasonal closure). Living-room with kitchen is at the first floor and our rooms on the top.so it But you can also use a kitchen at the grund floor, if you prefere.
We are planning to create a proper place for camping, but such accomodation is still not available.
We are omnivorous, but able to provide a diverse vegetarian diet. What else ...
Besides outdoor activities you can visit Florence, that is reachable by bus from Bivigliano (with a change in Pratolino), but whenever possible we will give you a lift to/from a better served bus station. Given the altitude , getting back from the city by bike is possible only for extremely fit people (or if you have an e-bike).

Space for parking camper vans
Currently we have a flat place, next to the woodshed, under some deciduous trees, where we used to keep our own Safaryways - until we sold it. Maybe not perfect for recharging solar panels, but you can use the 12-volt line from a garage a few metres away.
