    Mount Mununggal YOGA CAMP

Want a unique adventure in a very unique type of environment here in the Philippines. Experience living in a cool, tropical, fog filled jungle filled with orchids and wildlife. Come and connect with nature here at the top of one of the highest mountain in Cebu island (Mount Manunggal). We are working with an international yoga group to build a new yoga camp. Our project is still under construction but moving forward fast. We are looking for volunteers to help us build and create more structures, art, gardens, and programs.

    Where and who are we:

Our project is located in the top of Mount Mununggal, which is located just off the central highway between Cebu City and Balamban in Barangay Sunog. Last year our yoga group was donated a large piece of land on top of the mountain by Cebu City first councilor Nestor Archival. Our group has projects and programs scattered all around the world, and is one of the most wide spread yoga groups around with programs in over 160 different countries. It is a spiritual and social service organization with a focus on service to humanity. We teach and do far more than just yoga and meditation. We have many social programs in other locations including education, community health, disaster relief, developing model communities, music and lots of arts…
Our place means “The Path of Bliss” and we live and share a clean, healthy lifestyle focused on personal growth and community involvement.
We welcome everyone independent of their religion, gender, sexual orientation and nationality. ❤️🏳️‍🌈

What are we building and doing:

Although we have many programs and activities available, this workaway profile is to see if you’d like to help us with our ongoing Yoga Camp construction. We are creating a space for a small community to live and thrive, with gardens underground dwellings and various classes and programs. Currently we are building our underground geo-dome for meditation. It’s underground kinda like a hobbit house. Also we have a large yoga hall dome under that is overlooking the ocean. Because we are still under construction our yoga programs are slightly limited right now as we are still creating the spaces for us to use, but we have many opportunities for volunteers to learn new skills and help out, with good food every night and arts and crafts being a nightly play.

    What it is like here:

We are in the very top of the mountain so the temperature and weather here is VERY DIFFERENT than the rest of the Philippines. We have nice cool temperatures where you can see fog almost every day because we are all the way up in the clouds. Bring a jacket and an extra blanket and enjoy the free natural aircon all around.
We do have pets like chickens, dogs and cats which are free to move within the Camp except the kitchen.

    Food:

All meals are cooked together and shared. Here we eat a plant based diet mostly vegetarian. Our more serious yoga members have a bit more strict diet that you can learn about here and are encouraged to try out. But mostly all plant based diet. We will provide all food. We kindly ask volunteers to please bring no alcohol or drugs onto the property.

Yoga & Meditation and Art programs:

At the moment our programs are limited but we do have a yoga teacher living here as one of our volunteers and we often meditate as a group and take part in different activities like hiking exploring, and lots of art. We very much encourage self exploration and expression through art. We do painting, drawing , dream catchers, macrame, sculptures or any other kind of art you’d like to introduce.

Type and amount of work expected:

Right now the main thing we need help with is construction and planting. We have so many orchids and nice plants all around to work with. Anyone with gardening skills, light construction, cement or wood work is so very helpful, but also everyone has their own unique skills, talents and ideas are very much welcome here. Bring yours here and help us create something so much more. There are no set hours of work, as everyone here is a volunteer. We encourage volunteers to explore around the jungle here to see the waterfalls, cliffs and mountain peaks all around us. It’s a very unique, beautiful natural environment here.
No set hours or tasks, just looking for volunteers who can bring their own unique skills talents and energy here to help out.

    Accommodation

    Type of accommodation:

Our yoga camp is under construction right now, but we do have multiple spots for people to stay. We have a geo dome made of nippa (grass roof) that is dry and warm where we can put hammocks. If you do not have your own hammocks we have extra we can provide for you.

We have two private rooms good for 2
Loft overlooking the vastness of the mountains and ocean. This one is a bit cold at night, but worth it for the view.

We have 2 kitchen with stoves and complete with cooking wares. One is for vegetarians/vegan the other is flexible on what can be cooked there, but no pork. Also, we have electricity and a hot showers are available up here in the mountains, but no internet. There is barely no signal available in our camp but you can go to the WiFi station right next to our Camp to get WiFi for little fee.

    Things to do around here:

This area is a nature lovers paradise filled with adventures and places to explore. There are different hikes around here to multiple mountain peaks, waterfalls and caves. So much to explore. If you have transportation, there is much more than that around here but even within walking distance, you’d never run out of stuff to see here. Also, the island of Cebu has a lot to offer, it is filled with beautiful mountains, waterfalls and beaches to explore. Cebu is also famous for its underwater beauty. You can explore by driving more up north or south.
