    Description

We are a Namibian NGO that works to protect desert-dwelling elephants by mitigating human-elephant conflict and conducting community education programs. We are a team of 20 enthusiastic conservationists plus different groups of international volunteers that help fulfil our mission! Whilst our office is in the coastal town of Swakopmund, our wild Base Camp is situated in the semi-arid desert on the northern bank of the ephemeral Ugab River. At our Camp we now have an Education Centre, Elephant Museum and Office. So you can have the choice of working from Camp or from town.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You will interact with our Namibian team who are from several different cultural backgrounds. If you are up for it, you can try to learn any of the local languages (damara, otjiherero, afrikaans). Additionally, we have regular international volunteers who will stay at the Base Camp before and after they go on building projects and patrols.

  • Help

    Help

We need someone with skills in databases and website development, specifically to implement a CRM software and integrate with our website. The CRM database has been populated with data but we now need to integrate to fundraising platforms and website. In exchange for your help, you are welcome to join our elephant monitoring patrols once a month. The patrols are always 4 days long and take you to breath-taking places in Nambia's wilderness, sleeping wild under the stars and cooking over the fire.

    Accommodation

At Base Camp, you will be sleeping in your own tent. Tent and bedding will be provided. Base Camp is unfenced and wild and sometimes, elephants walk past. There are always team members of ours to ensure your safety at all times. If staying in town, you'd be staying at a backpackers in the centre of town with walking distance to shopping malls and the beach.
