Description
We live in a large, characterful old house at the foot of a beautiful hill, with open, airy views over the Jura mountains and the surrounding countryside. The atmosphere is calm and simple. Many lovely walks starting right from the door.
What I particularly love about this place is the feeling of space and the closeness to nature. Visitors often say they feel they can finally breathe and slow down. It’s a place that invites simple, warm moments.
Almost every day I drive down to Lons-le-Saunier (only 15 km away) for sport or errands, so I can easily drop you off in town if you feel like exploring, meeting people, or just changing atmosphere. On Sundays we usually go for picnics in nature — waterfalls, lakes, beautiful viewpoints. We also regularly organise little themed evenings at home: crêpes, Halloween, cheese fondue, raclette… And some weekends I can drop you at the train station so you can spend a couple of days in Dijon at my parents’ place (they have an independent studio).
Our little family is composed of me (Julie) and my two children:
Semeio (10), curious, full of ideas and a bit of a little engineer at heart,
and Joye (8), sunny, creative, full of energy and empathy.
They are used to having people around and generally enjoy sharing moments, games and conversations with new faces. We are a warm but simple family, with a lot of respect, natural kindness and the desire to make everyday life a little more joyful together.
The region also has a beautiful local culture of wine and cheese that is lovely to discover, as well as a few hidden gems like the laughing caw's museum! -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Cultural exchange is at the heart of what I’m looking for.
In daily life we share simple and warm moments: cooking together, themed evenings (crêpes, raclette, fondue, Halloween…), board games, conversations, and Sunday picnics in nature (waterfalls, lakes, beautiful viewpoints). Almost every day I go down to Lons-le-Saunier (15 km away), so it’s easy to drop you in town if you want to explore, meet people or just change atmosphere. Some weekends I can also take you to the train station so you can spend a couple of days in Dijon.
What I can share with you:
Local knowledge of the Jura (nature walks, hidden spots, wine and cheese culture)
Simple French family life and cooking
A calm and respectful atmosphere where everyone can just be themselves
What I hope to receive in return:
Your language (English or another language) spoken naturally with us
Stories, recipes, music, traditions and ways of seeing the world from your culture
Fresh energy and different perspectives that can open my children’s minds and give them the desire to travel and discover other countries
I’m especially happy when the exchange feels mutual and light — when we learn from each other simply by living side by side. -

Help
I’m mainly looking for a cultural and language exchange.
What I would love:
Practise English and/or French naturally in everyday life (conversations, games, meals, walks…)
Share simple moments with my two children to stimulate their curiosity about the world and give them the desire to travel and discover other cultures
Possibly cook a simple meal together once or twice a week (as a shared, enjoyable activity rather than a task)
We will do most things together. I’m happy to share local knowledge (nature walks, Jura food and culture, simple recipes…) and to learn from you as well — your culture, your way of seeing things, recipes from your country, stories…
There is no heavy work, no fixed schedule and no childcare responsibility. The children remain under my care at all times.
What I’m looking for is mainly presence, exchange, lightness and a bit of joy shared in daily life. -

Accommodation
You will stay in an independent studio on the courtyard side of the house. You have your own private space and entrance, so you can enjoy real independence while still being close to us.
We share the evening meal together every day (around 18:00–18:30).
For lunch I usually don’t eat, but I can prepare something simple for you to have in your studio if you wish.
Breakfast is served at 7:00 (both savoury and sweet). You are very welcome to join us, but if you prefer to sleep longer I can keep it for you.
During the day you are completely free. I often go down to Lons-le-Saunier for about two hours (sport or errands), so the house is quiet. The children come back from school at 16:00 — we have a goûter together and then dinner a bit later.
The atmosphere is simple, flexible and respectful of everyone’s rhythm. -

Internet : There is no WiFi in the house, but the mobile network is very good (strong antenna nearby), so 4G/5G works perfectly with a French or European SIM card.
