Description
Hello! Our property is located 45 minutes south of Napier, near Tikokino in Central Hawkes Bay. It is a family owned home that has been in the family for 6 generations! Our homestead, built in 1890, is nestled in a mature woodland garden of 9 hectares (20 acres). We are a lifestyle property with 2 pet Kune Kune piggies and a handful of Angus heifers. The garden has been a family passion for the past
4 generations but does require a lot of help to keep it maintained so we could do with an extra few people around to help out. The philosophy behind the garden is that "although everything has obviously been planted there should be little or no visible sign of the intrusion of man". This is a unique attitude to gardening and we are keen to to share this philosophy and the impact it has on how we maintain the garden with others from around the world. With 130 hectares of Nationally significant native bush immediately behind the homestead and 9 hectares of garden we sustain a large population of native birds and 2 colonies of the rare native bat. It is just me (Phyllida) and my husband (Stu) at home with our adult children having moved out but we enjoy catching up with friends regularly and getting involved in events within our local community. Tasks will depend on what’s happening at the time of year out in the garden and things around the family home. Accommodation - a queen or two king single beds, is provided in the homestead with a separate bathroom and there is wifi throughout the house. We have both travelled ourselves and our daughter Hannah (25) is presently working in London and travelling around Europe and our son Fred (23) is heading overseas in May so we are keen to reconnect with other cultures and make connections and look forward to meeting you.Types of help and learning opportunities
