Description
We are a squad of three people, me, my husband, and our baby girl, four cats and a our dog. A warm and welcoming family from Cuenca residing in a beachfront house in the charming Puerto Lopez, Ecuador, where we live surrounded by beautiful nature, enjoying the sea, the nearby beaches and practicing many outdoor activities like surfing and biking (we have spare equipment to share).
We are passionate about living a simple life, where details like caring for our neighbors, cleaning the beach, sharing our time to promote cultural activities have made a huge difference in our life, giving us a sense of purpose. We believe that life should be lived slowly but with passion and stepping away from a system that keeps us wasting our time following shallow illusions.
Among our projects is reviving our tiny pizzeria (we are a team of two, My husband and I, a small kitchen, five tables and the oven where the pizza is baked), which had to be closed to be able to receive our baby girl in Cuenca for medical reasons. This activity help us financially support ourselves so we can persevere with all the important ventures inside our community, while caring for our baby girl; therefore, we are needing a helping hand with her and household chores in order to do it.
One of our core philosophies is that whatever you do, no matter how small or simple it may seem, should be done with honesty, generosity and dedication. Our family is our pillar, and we cherish the values we share, from this pillar we build a respectful relation with the community that we are part of. This is not just a volunteer opportunity; it's an incredible cultural and language exchange and a good chance for you to discover the gems of Ecuador's coast. In return for your dedicated support, we offer you an authentic experience and free accommodation. Our charming beachfront location ensures you'll always have a front-row seat to sunsets, and great ambiance.
Help
Your tasks will include assisting us with maintenance, cleaning and gardening, and also time of creative playing with our baby, keeping her entertained, so we (my husband and I) can focus on our tasks of cooking and attending to our guests, ensuring them a great ambiance during working hours at night which is generally from 6 to 9 pm.
You will not be required in any of the activities at the pizzeria like baking or serving pizza, but we will be happy to share some knowledge if you are interested in learning.
Your support in creating a welcoming environment in our place, so it looks tidy and attractive, is highly valued.
Being an animal lover is a must, we will need your periodic assistance with our cats and dog needs.

Accommodation
You will be provided with a private space within our home. We have excellent internet connection. The room is private and the bathroom which is in the middle of the garden and is shared with us. Our house has a delightful garden, perfect for relaxation and enjoying the fresh coastal breeze. You will have total access to a complete kitchen where you can store your groceries and prepare your meals.
By living and working alongside us, you'll have the unique opportunity to fully experience the vibrant rhythm of Puerto Lopez, the nearby beaches and hills. We will be happy to give you access to equipment for learning surfing, kayaking or biking.

During your downtime, there are countless sights and activities to explore in and around Puerto Lopez, which has a priviledge location. Here are just a few highlights:
Machalilla National Park, located just a short distance from Puerto Lopez. This protected area is home to diverse ecosystems, including pristine beaches, tropical forests, and the awe-inspiring Isla de la Plata (Silver Island), known as the "Poor Man's Galapagos."
Whale Watching: From June to September, Puerto Lopez becomes a hub for witnessing one of nature's most extraordinary spectacles—humpback whale migrations.
Agua Blanca Archaeological Site, an ancient settlement that offers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of the Manteña civilization. Explore the ruins, bathe in a natural sulfur pool, and learn about the traditional healing practices still preserved by the local community.
Isla de la Plata, this sanctuary is a haven for exotic bird species, such as blue-footed boobies and frigatebirds. Explore the diverse trails, snorkel in the turquoise waters, and witness the remarkable biodiversity of this hidden gem.
Transportation:
Getting around Puerto Lopez and its surroundings is convenient and accessible. The village itself is compact, making it easy to explore on foot or by bicycle. Additionally, local taxis offer affordable 0.50 cents transportation options for venturing around.

While your contribution with our family will be greatly appreciated, we also encourage you to make the most of your free time. Use this opportunity to immerse yourself in the local culture, connect with fellow travelers, create memories. Savoring great local food and fresh fish, or simply relax on the beach.
We can also recommend many options of traveling inside Ecuador, specially to Cuenca, the wonderful city we are originally from.
