Help
We’re looking for 2 team members to work with us for a minimum of 2 months, from late-April till mid/end of October. You must speak French at least at an intermediate level.
***Thanks for not applying if you do not meet both of these two criteria.***
About us:
Both fond of backpacking and meeting people from all over the world, we (Fanny & Clément) opened Nami House in 2017. We set up this small family hostel with 15 beds in a traditional Basque house. Our guests often describe it as a “home away from home”.
Indeed, from the very beginning, we’ve done our best to make our guests feel comfortable and at home, while making their stay on the Basque coast memorable. We frequently organise events inside and outside the hostel such as barbecue nights, beach volley ball, ping pong tournaments, picnics at the beach… In the same time, we are very careful to keep everything super clean and tidy.
We have committed ourselves fully over the past nine years and now wish to be able to rely on our team members.
About you:
We’re looking for 2 persons to work with us for a minimum of 2 months (ideally for the whole season) from late-April till mid/end of October.
You will not be dedicated to specific tasks but really versatile and fully involved in both the running and the daily life of the hostel. As a true member of the team, you are responsible, trustworthy, proactive (taking action instead of waiting for instructions) and you’re able to work completely independently.
Both, you will take care of the operational tasks: daily cleaning, making the beds, doing the laundry, taking care of the breakfast (no cooking). You must be organized and enjoy keeping places clean and tid.
However, we are not just looking for housekeepers, but also enthusiastic and friendly team members who enjoy socialising with the guests, organising various events inside and outside the hostel, and who also like to party.
As you will be working in an international environment (70% of our guests are foreigners), we are looking for candidates who are fluent in English and have a good level of French (intermediate).
Although the position is paid as a part-time job, we are looking for a friendly relationship rather than a strict employer/employee relationship.
So, if you fit this description, let's get in touch 😊!
Note: an employment contract will be signed between the workawayer and the hostel and the work will be paid according to the minimum wage requirements in France. Therefore, only workawayers with a valid European passport will be accepted for this position.

Accommodation
Both workawayers will sleep on a bunk bed in a private bedroom in the hostel.

What else ...
What we are offering:
Free accommodation including breakfast, laundry and use of a bike in exchange of 25 hours of help per week.
You will have your own private bedroom that you will share with the other workawayer and sleep on a bunk bed equipped with curtains for more privacy.
What we are expecting:
Someone not shy but talkative, who speaks a good level of French and is fluent in English and who loves connecting with the guests and help them organize their stay.
We are pretty flexible and just need to organize between us to ensure that there is always someone at the hostel to welcome guests and assist them during their stay.

Hey! I'm Bazoo, the new team member! I'm already a big boy, 1,5 year-old, and I joined the family for Christmas. I love going to the forest close by or to the beach for long walks with Willy and our parents ;-) Maybe with you too during the season?!

I spent one of the best summers of my life in this hostel, without really realizing that I was actually working. The hostel is small and cosy while still allowing space (garden area, large living room, etc...). The room/office is comfortable and the hosts are flexible… read more
Great hostel, by far the best I have ever worked and stayed at. I kept extending my stay because the workload was super fair, the guests from all over the world were super nice and I simply did not want to leave this paradise place.
