  • Description

We have created a safe haven for over 300 rescued farmed animals located in the lush valleys of the Ribeira Sacra in Galicia. The sanctuary has been open for over 6 years and with the help of our supporters we recently bought an old abandoned village in the forest along a river with 50 breathtaking acres. And now we are starting to rebuild everything with an eco and sustainable philosophy using wood from our own forests and locally sourced materials, and restoring the land for our rescued animals to enjoy and to create a forest garden with fruit trees and bushes, medicinal herbs, vegetables etc. Our idea is to create a sanctuary for the animals that will allow them to live a life as close to natural as possible and to create permaculture center where people can come and experience a different way of living.

The sanctuary is run by me and my husband Mikey. We left the UK 9 years ago for a different way of life and moved to the wilderness here in Galicia. We live in a little wooden cabin we built ourselves and we give our lives to help animals and create a more beautiful world. We love a simple way of living at one with the world around us, vegan cooking, herbalism and plant medicine, music, art and creativity, and so many other things!
