  • Description

    Description

We are a reqistered Bulqarian charity, working with mistreated horses, dogs and cats, from poor ghettos in rural Bulgaria.

We need versatile and competent volunteers all year round to help with the vulnerable animals we rescue and rehabilitate.

Riqht now there is a vacancy for a couple or two friends to work over the Christmas and New Year period, especially with our mini-herd of horses. Experience with horses is essential.

We can provide accomodation and meals in a lovely rural location :)

Anyone coming out here and seeing how people live in the local ghetto, will gain experience of how people stuck in a poverty trap, manage from day to day. It's eyeopening..

    Help

Our haven for horses and dogs needs two volunteers to live on site, feeding, exercising and cleaning up after the animals - and of course, giving the love they've so lacked in their lives. As well as working in the haven, volunteers may be asked if they would like to walk dogs usually chained 24/7, in the ghetto area, and/or to groom them. Volunteers with experience of handling horses may find themselves asked to help gently train youngsters, and to assist local kids to learn to ride safely.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

At the haven site there is a caravan with a double bed, and a separate, old fashioned wagon, with a single bedroom and a sitting/dining area. We likw two volunteers at a time. Coupes or singles welcome. But anyone coming to help here needs to be prepared to rough it a bit. There is no bathroom on site, just a nice bucket and spade.. However, a kind person who lives not far away, offers excellent bathrooom facilites several times a week, a lovely cooked meals, to make a chenge from picknicking in the vans.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

The kind of people who'll benefit most from a stay as a volunteer here, will be adventurous and not bothered about few luxuries. The work with animals here is both heart-breaking and deeply rewarding. And it really is making a difference. Come and see for youself, and be a part of change for the better :)

In time off, transport is available to the nearest towns, for a contrast to the countryside you'll live in while working at the haven. And just google Bulgaria to see how much there is to see and do here :)
