    Description

Hi, We are family of 4 (Mum, Dad, Boy 6yrs and Girl 5 yrs) living in Puigpunyent, Mallorca, Spain. Plus a loving and cuddly cockapoo dog. My husband often works abroad for extended periods which is why im looking for a little help around the house occasionally. Puigpunyent is a beautiful village with some lovely bars and restaurants in the Tramuntana mountain range, but only 20 mins drive from the city of Palma. There are some gorgeous hikes right from our doorstep and a municipal sports centre offering various classes and padel / tennis courts. There is a regular bus to and from Palma making getting around, exploring and shopping easy. We also have a car which you could used if you are over 25 (due to insurance requirements).

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Although we live in Spain we are English and speak English at home, which would be an opportunity to improve your language skills.

I think it would be wonderful for the kids to meet people from different countries, hear about their cultures and try different foods. I love to cook and would be happy to share recipes with you if you discover new dishes you enjoy with us.

We celebrate English festivals, so you will learn about English culture , and could help the kids decorate the house for example at Halloween or other holidays. We also celebrate the Spanish festivals and the townhall puts on amazing little markets, beer festivals, celebrations and festivalls to mark the year. For example in January Sant Antoni is really fun, people run through fire and there is a parade of demonis through the village. We go to many of these and we would love it if you wanted to join us, or discover them on your own.

Another family in the village also has a workaway staying with them at the moment, so we could connect you with them as fellow travellers.

I would love to do more yoga but I dont feel like i know how to practice alone, if a workawayer had an interest in yoga, mindfullness or breathwork, I would love to learn from them and practice with them.

You would be welcome to participate in as much or as little of our usual family life as you would like.

    Help

I would like some domestic help with some occasional cooking and babysitting, dog walking, school pick ups and drop offs and after school activities. It would be different each day, depending on the kids schedule. You would be completely free during the school day. Someone who enjoys kids and cooking and doesn't mind adapting meals to make them suitable for the kids would be perfect.

    An example schedule could be:

Monday - morning: nothing, Afternoon: nothing OR cook a meal for the family and collect one child from school at 1630.

Tuesday - morning: 0830 get one child ready for school and drop her off at 9am (3 mins walk).
Afternoon: nothing OR wash the kids snack boxes while i put them to bed after swimming

Wednesday - Morning: 0830 get one child ready for school and drop her off at 9am (3 mins walk).
Afternoon: pick up the kids from school and take them to gymnastics (if you drive). OR nothing.

Thursday - Morning: nothing or take one child to school as above, Afternoon: collect on child from school (driving) or cook a meal for the family

Friday - Morning: nothing, Afternoon: Collect one child from school and bring them to the playground for a while until i arrive with the other and we eat together in a restaurant.

Saturday - Morning: possible baby sitting while i walk the dog, or dog walking, or evening babysitting if i go out..
    Sunday - same

Sometimes dog walking, folding laundry etc.

Everything is very flexible! I don't need too much, just an extra grown up in the house takes a little pressure off! And leave me free sometimes to have some quality time with the kids instead of always having to cook and do housework. Days off can change each week...

This host offers a language exchange
We would all love to improve our Spanish, and we can offer to help improve your English. But this is absolutely not a requirement, language exchange does not have to be a part of it does not have to be a part of the workaway experience.

    Accommodation

You would have your own bedroom and bathroom on your own floor of the house. You'll have direct access to the garden and swimming pool (although the garden is still a work-in-progress and the pool is a cold plunge right now!). We have fibre internet.

You can ask me to put any food you want on the weekly shopping list. Throughout the day you will be welcome to help yourself at any point to make breakfast or lunch. If i'm around at lunch time and making myself something to eat of course I will offer to make for you too! I'm often out of the house most of the morning, sometimes most of the day.

On Mondays and Thursdays either I or you would make a family meal. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays the kids have after-school activities and usually eat dinner on the go, so i don't cook a meal, but again you would be welcome to help yourself to anything, or have some of the kids food. On Fridays we often eat at a restaurant in the village square which of course you are welcome to join. Weekends are less predictable, but if / when we are home I usually make a family meal, or we eat easy food like pizza.
