Description
We are a semi-retired couple that lives in Smithers, the prettiest town you can imagine. Mountains, the Bulkley River, forest and alpine wilderness. We are firm that our volunteer be a non-smoker. We have bikes, skis, and snowshoes to lend. We do not eat a lot of meat, please keep that in mind if you are a serious carnivore :)
We are both teachers so English language improvement will be easy! We live on 5 acres adjacent to trails that lead to downtown Smithers in less than 10 minutes. The forest is right out the door, mountain biking and hiking trails are within 5 minutes too. Wildlife is abundant, from our deck you could easily see rabbits, moose, deer, and in the right season, a bear. At night you might hear coyotes too.: ask us for video links
Hiking to waterfalls and the Kathlyn Glacier are easily accessed by nearby trailheads. The town itself has a great farmer's market, restaurants, breweries, and local artisan shops. Smithers is accessible by car, passenger train, and we have a commercial airport. downtown: ask us for video links
We are humbled to live and house Workaway friends on the unneeded territory of Wet'suwet'en People. Please learn a bit about them before you come.

we are both public school teachers, so language help would be easy, we live a sustainable existence so you can learn this as well, we are mainly vegetarian and can help you with learning to lower your carbon footprint.

This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
We are looking for someone to help in a variety of ways, it could be in the garden, food preservation, yard work, with the chickens, maybe dog and cat sitting if we go away for a few days, trail building/maintenance, meal preparation/clean up, creek reparation, watering plants, doing some painting, it all depends on the time of year and what your strengths are.
