    Description

We live on a small forested acreage on the Sunshine Coast in BC. The ocean is a 20 minute walk away, there are trails everywhere, and it’s honestly a pretty beautiful place to spend some time. We have kayaks and paddleboards you’re welcome to use, lots of hiking and mountain biking nearby, and a small cidery about five minutes down the road. We also have a small pick up truck for workdays to use. Day trips to Vancouver are possible- it's just 1.5 hours away by car + ferry.

Our family is Shannen, Jesse, Cillian (7), and Haydn (5). The boys are currently very interested in insects and anything they can find outside. We like sharing meals and conversation with the people who stay here and we’ve had really good experiences meeting people through Workaway. We are a split household, some vegetarians, some not, so we can accommodate dietary needs!

We have a guest suite for couples to stay and an extra bedroom for singles who are helping out in the home.

Right now there are two kinds of help that would be really useful.

1- OUTDOOR HELP ON THE PROPERTY

If you enjoy being outside, this one might suit you. Things like gardening, clearing brush, yard work, and small projects around the acreage. Nothing too heavy, mostly just steady outdoor work.

The schedule is flexible. Some people prefer doing two or three longer days and then having the rest of the week free to explore. Others like to work mornings and then have their afternoons evening free.

If you have construction or handyman experience that’s great, but it’s definitely not required.

    2- HOUSEHOLD HELP

We’re also looking for someone who’d enjoy helping keep the house running smoothly. Things like preparing simple meals, helping keep the kitchen tidy, laundry, grocery runs, and making lunches for the boys.

This role follows more of a weekday rhythm, and it would be great to find someone interested in staying a bit longer.

    *****************

The property is quiet and surrounded by forest. The Sunshine Coast is one of the nicest places in Canada if you like nature.

You’re welcome to use our kayaks and paddleboards, explore the beaches and coastal trails, or go hiking and biking nearby. If you have a driver’s license you can sometimes borrow our pickup truck to get around.

If you want a day in the city, Vancouver is about 1.5 hours away by ferry and car.

Who tends to enjoy staying here:

    People who like nature.
People who are comfortable being fairly independent.
People who enjoy a relaxed family home.

If you write, tell us a bit about yourself and what kind of stay you’re looking for.
