Description
Our art residency is a mountain cabin suitable for budget Travelers, artists, and socially conscious travelers. With a keen interest in addressing poverty, community mental health and assisting local dreams, the project allows you to get socially involved with local art, traditional games and cultural activities.
Located in Semonkong village, on the south east of Lesotho, this place is surrounded by a tranquil beauty, and unwavering authenticity. Mannini the founder lives in close proximity with the residence, with her mom and younger brother.
activities such as horse riding, birds viewing, and creative story telling is part of the ebb and flow of life in this enchanting corner of the world.
The life in the residence mirrors the every day life of the ordinary people of Semonkong Lesotho. For example, we use basic solar lights, we fetch water from springs, wash in a basin, and use a compost toilet. And although we have a basic gas for cooking, it's very common to also cook some of our food on wood.
But above all, we believe that art plays a huge role in allowing us to express who we are in ways that may not be achieved by words alone. So if you are an artist or someone eager to explore other creative mechanisms of sharing skills, exchanging culture, or expressing an important message through a song, game, dance etc Art Residency is a suitable home for you.Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Semonkong is full of nature attractions and activities such as horse riding, and water falls picnics are common.
And if you love local food and learning SESOTHO, this is achievable through the the residency's traditional games and community activities.
The owner of the residency lives with her brother and mother in a separate house but in close proximity with the residence. In this way, travelers getting involved with us have access to immerse themselves in the local culture., learn about the historical and cultural significance of the area and engage with the community at large.
Staying at BAR means that you will have the opportunity to meet and mingle with local artists, exchange ideas, and hopefully collaborate on creative projects while building relationships with like minded individuals.Help
Please help us register with other online bookers, e.g.hostel world. Help us create a smart system to keep records of our bookings.
