We are a small resort located on the south shore of Great Lake Ontario in upstate NY. We rent to the public, house keeping cabins, campsites and boat slips in a small marina. We have recently started a small sea plane base that we intend to grow.
My wife and I currently are the proprietors and perform all functions on the resort. We like to travel and enjoy meeting new people. Our organization is our heritage, our forefathers began purchasing this waterfront community and we have continued the same, it is an extension of our souls. Our small, quaint village, around the corner, is a destination for many vacationers all around the world for various reasons. Including, but not limited to, the Great Lake of 52 miles wide and 273 miles long, world class fishing, the State Park, Renaissance festival along with wineries and art galleries. A melting pot of cultures and extraordinary people.

We believe travelers will learn skills such as those found in the building trades by building and developing, gardening/landscaping, nautical knowledge by being around boats and docks, house keeping and renovation, tree maintenance and entrepreneurial skills, including branding from the proprietors who are owner operators who retired in their 40's...
We are a laid back waterfront resort property that requires substantial up-keep, maintenance and development. We are currently developing and attempting to brand an ecologically sensitive floating housing development, or, floating condo's.
We provide private living quarters with full linen, kitchen nooks and private bathroom facilities. Our menu is yours, we provide a minimum of 2 meals daily during the week and munchies to the volunteers quarters. Weekend meals are voluntary on our behalf, and will supply basics for you to prepare your own meals. There could be times that we are off on an adventure and the volunteer would be our eyes and ears heading up the daily operation of this small quaint resort.
Parking is available for those with wheels and bicycles are here for those who would like to make the short trek into town or to the beach.
Some of the daily tasks includes lawn mowing, beach maintenance, dock maintenance, preservation of decks and buildings and landscaping maintenance, mending, cleaning, fixing and painting. The longer term projects involve building fence, jacking cottages, preserving and building concrete foundations under cottages and trimming trees/cutting fire wood. Other maintenance includes maintaining and cleaning and waxing boats, an airplane and various automobiles.
Our goal in the next 12 months is to create living quarters on a 20 feet by 16 feet raft with a wind turbine and second floor deck of pirate proportions, aaaarrrrggggg matey ! Our desire in this endeavor is to brand the concept and promote it via the internet all of which we could use help with.
We believe female or male workaway volunteers would be just fine in our light duty, relaxed, vacation environment.
We have several forms of accommodations such as a guest cottage, bathhouse (with living accommodations) a mother-in-law penthouse apartment and campers. Depending upon the demands of our paid guests the workaway help would be assigned to one or another of these accommodations, all, with private bathing facilities.
Volunteers will be situated in waterfront community life. The local village is a destination for many who enjoy small shops, eating and drinking establishments, a large waterfront state park, waterfront village park and wineries. The sterling nature center, sterling Renaissance festival (work positions available) and plentiful festivities throughout the summer months, June - September make for plenty to do. The hosts are avid boaters and do a lot of boating and day excursions on their 28 foot, 2 story vessel. Fishing is a pass time here as world class fishing is off the door step !
