We now have workawayers through mid March
That may be enough to get all of our projects accomplished. If anything else develops we will let you know here
You will need to have some "handy man" skills. Light carpentry, light electric (replacing ceiling fan and/or plugs) and minor plumbing knowledge.
My name is Laura. I was born here but raised on the east coast. I have been back here since 1989.
Hawaii is gorgeous and you will be in Paradise. Here on the Big island we have a laid back life style.
I am a real estate agent and work mostly from home. I have one cat, Cutie who goes in or out as she pleases.
I also foster kittens (one at a time) for the Humane society.
DIY and building projects
Help around the house
We will interact doing these projects together and we will be happy to teach you about the Hawaiian culture, how to care for tropical plants and experiencing a tropical Polynesian climate.
You will be surrounded by tropical plants, birds and you can learn about the Hawaiian history, the Volcanoes that make up the island. There are many things to see and do such as the Volcanoes National Park(active lava at the moment), the botanical gardens, beaching it, snorkeling, Lyman museum, Tsunami museum, etc
I will be happy to pick you up at Hilo airport. I hope to learn about your country or your area of the USA.
We will be doing interior painting, fixing windows, some house cleaning and repairing anything that needs it. In the yard there will be cutting, trimming, pruning the bushes and trees.
You will have a large studio room with separate entrance and private bath. The studio is fully furnished with comfy queen sized bed, small fridge, desk, bookcase, TV with firestick, lamps, ironing board, etc
There is a door between my section of the home and yours. It leads right into the full kitchen which you can use at your convenience. Breakfast and lunch are included. You can make your dinner in the kitchen on your own.
What seems to work best is 5 OR 6 hours a day for a total of 25 hours a week. The evenings and weekends will be your own time to explore and enjoy the island life.
Property is landscaped with many beautiful plants, fruit trees, tiki torches, solar lights
We are 25 minutes south of Hilo,
15 minutes from shops, restaurants, grocery store and Olympic sized swimming pool.
Isaac Hale beack park is approx 20 minutes away.
Volcanoes National Park is a 40 minute drive.
Kehena Black Sand Beach (clothing optional), where you can sometimes swim with the dolphins, is 25 minutes away.
We are 15 minutes from Uncle Robert's.
Huge Sunday Makuu market is 10 minutes.
We are centrally located for side trips to all other parts of the Big Island.

PLEASE NOTE THAT AS OF RIGHT NOW, 1/5/21, IF YOU FLY INTO HAWAII, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE A COVID TEST BEFORE YOU GET ON THE PLANE AND ANOTHER ONCE YOU ARRIVE IN HAWAII.
YOU WILL NEED TO FLY INTO THE HILO AIRPORT. CHANGES MAY HAPPEN DEPENDING ON THE VIRUS.
We are in a "woodsy" area and approx 25 minutes to Hilo. I go approx twice a week. If you want to travel the immediate area there is a place close by that rents bicycles.
If you want to go further, you will need to rent a car. Bus service is not very good here.
You will need your own source of income.
Hilo offers a glimpse into the past of a authentic Hawaiian township. Ocean temperature offers snorkeling and swimming all year round
Other fun things to do are see the many waterfalls, and there is an Olympic swimming pool near by (free).
