    Description

We are a family of four plus one lovely dog.
We live in suburban West Moonah, just 15 mins from Hobart CBD with easy bus transport.
We have a self-contained studio granny flat (with kitchen and bathroom).
We’re interested in cultural exchange, and would happily provide free accommodation for short stays in exchange for help with gardening, landscaping, maintenance and occasional babysitting / dog sitting.
Would suit singles, couples or even new parents. Occasional shared meals, but daily meals not included (accom has full kitchen).

  • Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We’re well travelled and value the benefits of exposure to all cultures and languages without exception.
In West Moonah, like much most of Australia, our community is made up of people from all different backgrounds and religions.
We would welcome the opportunity to host and get to know guests from all walks of life.
Our preference is short stays of 2 - 3 weeks.

  • Help

    Help

Gardening and maintenance - mowing, weeding, edging, planting, etc.
Landscaping - I’d love to lay some pavers and build a raised garden bed for a veggie patch.
Domestic - household duties, cleaning, cooking an occasional meal.
Maintenance - washing windows, repainting old surfaces, fencing.

Simple exposure for us to other languages to learn a few basics is very welcome and our kids are very interested and quick to learn.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Self-contained studio flat in our backyard. Very comfortable. Full kitchen. Bathroom (shower, toilet, vanity). Furnished. Heating and cooling. Bedding and towels provided. Porta-cot available. Tv. Wi-fi (not the strongest signal!)
Happy to share a few social meals but daily meals will not be provided. We would expect guests to purchase their own food from local grocery store and use their own kitchen.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We have a (very) friendly dog. We expect all guests to be comfortable with dogs and kids.
Anti-social or any illegal behaviour will not be tolerated.
Bring your common sense and a good attitude and I’m sure you’ll have a relaxed and enjoyable stay.
Regular bus service from nearby bus stop will get you to Moonah or Hobart CBD and back easily.
