Description
We are a fun, chill, active couple. Our Son Bodhi (18) Just graduated and moved out. We are looking for 1 independent or 2 people to come and stay on our acreage and help with the garden, clearing land, fire wood prep, carpentry projects as well. We have8 chickens 1 dog and 1 cat. Time commitment is usually 3 hours a day if you more or less cook for yourself. (your own kitchen supplied) or 4 hours if you eat with us. We do often share meals either way. We always love helping our workawayer's figure out their next step in Adventure! We live 6kms from the little city centre of Courtenay on 17 acres of mostly forested land. There is access to bikes, paddle boards, bonfires, adventures, and good people to hang out with if interested. At this point you would have your own Airstream trailer and outdoor kitchen, shower, and outhouse. The space is beautiful and we expect it to be taken care of with love. We also have 5 acres and three houses on Nootka Island that we boat out to and can use help there clearing land carpentry projects etc. Cheers

We are a very active family and we own a sports store in town and have access to many fun activities and adventures, we are 20 minutes from Mount Washington alpine resort and 10 mins to the ocean and minutes from rivers. We love to travel when we aren't homesteading!

Help
Tasks would include, weeding, watering, harvesting and planting in the garden. We have 2 goats, a dog and a cat so help with them would be great too! Clearing land, Bucking, chopping and stacking fire wood. Building projects if skilled to do so. We also love having fun, and going to the beach for bbq's after a good days work, or biking down to the river for a dip mid day to cool off! Four hours of help a day is expected and food from the garden and some meals are shared, or we can do all the cooking too. (Access to grocery stores is easy for ease with dietary restrictions and meal timing... This is negotiable)

We have a clean and adorable very cozy, Airstream trailer with a Queen and a single bed with comfy sheets pillows and a feather duvet. A outside shower and composting toilet is used. A fridge, freezer oven and stove on the deck is also available. The trailer is close to the garden in a private part of the woods on our property. We alternatively have a bedroom in our home.
What else ...
We live a very healthy lifestyle with clean surroundings and kind hearts, we would expect the same in return for anyone staying with us. We love going on paddle board, running, mountain biking, river tubing, canoeing, hiking, camping adventures that we would encourage our guests to come on too.

I just can say one bad thing - that I didnt stay longer at Salinas place.
Next to the work together in the garden, we also spent our freetime together.
We became a bycicle to visit the city and the landscape for our own
Thank you very much for this unforgetable time on Vancouver Island. It was not my last time!
I am sincerely grateful for their decision to keep me for an extra week as I would have missed out on so many friendships and learning opportunities if I'd left as planned.

A little late but at a Spanish rhythm!
Salinas, Paul, Bodhy and Everest home was our first experience as workawayers and it couldn't have been better! They welcomed us as one more in their beautiful home in Courtenay! We also shared our time with James, another workawayer who was a really cool friend. The work was varied and we… read more

I felled so good working around the house, cleaning the land, painting the boler, chopping fire wood or doing whatever they needed. And as well, we shared time doing fanny sports activities together!
They helped me too for my news steps.
