    Description

Hello travelers, we are Laure and Margaux. We own a property just over 1,5 acres in a tiny rural village midway-ish from Carcassonne and Toulouse.
About 10 years ago, in our 20’s we both traveled and worked abroad … We used to be exactly where you’re at now and know what it takes to be a helper away from home.
After 5 years of intense backpacking around the globe, we moved back home in the early 2020s and settled down in our first place.
It took us a year, a full time job and a pandemic to realize that we could do better than live in a rental surrounded by concrete … We found a piece of land t that was on sale in a tiny village and built our eco-conscisous wooden house on it.
We share our place with our two dogs, Lou (5-year-old Australian Shepherd) and Leica (4-year-old Border Collie/Pyrenean mix). Lou simply adores human contact and will melt your heart in an instant. Leica has a sensitive soul and can be fearful ; she has specific needs and requires a calm and understanding environment. Both are curious, energetic, and love off-leash walks. Leica enjoys being outside, while Lou prefers to snuggle inside. Our dogs live with us and are full members of our family. We don’t ask you to love dogs, but you’ll need to be comfortable around them.

We are a couple of environmentalists, hard working, easy going, reliable, non-smoking people that loves animals and nature. We live a life of simplicity and try to protect our planet.
We value people with the same interests and are open to any sustainable experience you want to share.
We love having visitors and sharing the beauty of our region with them. From our favorite walking spots to the hidden gems tucked away in nature, there’s a special kind of magic here that we can’t wait for others to experience.

    Help

Thanks to all the volunteers we had over the past two years, we’ve brought countless projects on the land to life. Month after month your support brings our vision closer to reality. Thank you!
Projects are numerous — both big and small — so we’re grateful for all the help we can get on the endless to‑do list.
Depending on your visit, here are some jobs we need help with :
    1/ Forest
    -Stack firewood and branches
    -Shred wood and branches
    -Clean up the riverbank area
    2/ Veggie Garden
    -Weed the beds
    -Compost
-Add amended soil to the veggie garden
    -Mulch
    -Get ready for fall seeding
    3/ Around the Property
    -Mark out planting areas
    -Paint wooden chairs
-Add shredded wood to all paths
-Build and install new bird and bat houses around the property
-Make fat balls for the birds
    -Help with the chickens
    -Odd jobs around the garden

Most people with an interest for sustainable projects will find something they like. We prefer working in the morning but we do not follow a strict work schedule but rather respond to the happenings of the day, the weather, the mood ..

Laure works for an association supporting organic farming in the region. Margaux is a freelance photographer and also works in a touristic rural resort. We love team work but depending on the time of the year you might be working on your own a few hours a week.

    ** New Fall construction project:**
At the end of September/October, we’ll be launching a significant construction project with a professional company to completely rebuild the shelter’s roof, walls, and plaster—our current structure is literally falling apart. Towards the end of the year (November and after), once the main work is done, we’ll need hands inside to help set everything up:
    - Organise the new shed
    -Paint the new furniture
    - Prepare the soil in the greenhouse
    - Grow new plants in the greenhouse
And pretty much assistance to organize the interior, restore functionality, and prepare the space for use and storage.

If you want to be part of the adventure, please get in touch.
