    Description

Ivor and Blou are a British couple from an eclectic background of events management, performance arts, community ventures, making magical things happen and creative solutions. Recently we became Permaculture consultants and aim to build a self sustaining food to mood centre for well being blended with Blous private counselling practice and Ivors skills as a vegetarian chef and current learning to be an osteopath.

Our farm is very rural and quiet yet nestled in the valley beneath the magical mountain of Monsanto. Reino Magico is on the Camhino footpath and off the beaten track, so we rarely have motorised traffic. It has wells and a river and stunning views of the mountain.
Although quiet and isolated, you can walk up the mountain in under 2 hours where you will find cafes, restaurants, a taverna and more. There is a village 20 minutes away for very basic supplies and beer.

Workaways will have either a caravan or a large tent as living space and will be asked to contribute their hours mostly in the first part of the day break, so people who like to lay in need not apply.
We love music and dance, so anyone who loves to play an instrument or can pick up one of our many drums are especially welcome.

We are willing to share every bit of knowledge and skills we have. Even those that might not be related to the work on the farm. Between us we have a broad range of training and interests and love nothing more than to pass on valuable information for others to turn into their own practical application of wisdom, such as; Sacred Geometry, Bioterrain Health, Permaculture Principles, Hermetic Principles, Project Management, Drumming tuition, Mood elevation, PolyVagal Theory, Meditation to Manifestation, Introduction to Portugal Off Grid living and much much more.

Work will include land clearance, so removing dead trees / bushes, pruning, lopping, cutting, raking, digging and carrying things about on pitch forks or in wheel barrows. Safe management of small fires to burn bracken.

If you are competent with a strimmer or chainsaw, even better, but not essential.

Work may also include helping prepare one pot meals when helpers are staying and taking a role in basic kitchen skills to help prepare and clear food for all the workawayers. We see this as a valuable and essential skill for helping to look after the people who come to help us.

Other work may include helping to lay concrete, doing odd DIY jobs, building small sheds, helping roof buildings and general maintenance jobs such as pumping water, planting vegetables and helping with tools and vehicle maintenance.

We have a caravan that comfortably sleeps three and a very large tent that sleeps 8. Self service facilities for breakfast will be provided (tea, coffee, snacks) and workers will be expected to rise and arrange their morning routine themselves, coming to the start work location at day break (this is when the sun reaches around the mountain and is different at each season). Lunch and dinner will be provided on site.

Helpers are expected to follow rules of the land with regards to no chemicals and the use of eco friendly facilities. Smoking is prohibited outside most of the year due to fire hazards. So if you are a heavy smoker, this is not the opportunity for you. There is a simple shop and a bar in the village, with an option for bakery and frozen food delivery to the bar. Up the mountain (half way and top) there are cafes, restaurants, shops and a delightful mountain top taverna with stunning 180degree viewing terrace.
There is a large lake to swim in just 20 minute drive away. The city of Castelo Branco is 45 minutes drive.

Anti social behaviour will not be tolerated but it will be challenged.
We do not have any pets or farm animals but treat those who visit our land with love and respect.

Great signal from our caravan and I am happy to share my hotspot as the data is unlimited and the connection good enough for my online work. Local cafes all have internet access too as does the mountain!!

Our track requires high ground clearance, so any lowered vehicles would be in danger of the odd scrape! We also would rather only decent engine sizes or wheel wheel drives come on site as there are some steep hills. However there are some lovely free camp spots just minutes away with an agreement made in advance, between helpers and ourselves, of turn up for work times.
