Description
As a family, we are planning to build an art farm in our land, Urla-İzmir. Our farm is next to a forest, 10 min. ride to sea and 15 min. ride to town center. Village is famous with its olive trees, beaches and as an alternative destination for İzmir citizens. We dream to built an international art farm that artists can stay and make workshops as they like. They can just do their art in the nature and stay as much they like. Also, I am a yoga trainer. So happy to have yoga trainers and practitioners as well.
Currently, we live as a big family in the farm. We do not use any chemicals and try to build a sustainable farm with permaculture methods.Types of help and learning opportunities
Gardening
DIY and building projects
Creating/ Cooking family meals
General Maintenance
Farmstay help

Help around the house

UN sustainability goals this host is trying to achieve
Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
As we are a big family (grandparents, parents and us - 8 people-), it is an opportunity to experience Turkish family life. (btw my grandmother cooks delicious Turkish food) Also, experiencing the nature and permaculture farming is another learning point we can offer.
We would be happy to host families with little kids. We have one year old son. It would be such a nice experience for kids to play together.
If you are an artist and make workshops, it would be nice to organize together.Help
Come and help us to build our dream. We are open to any kind of ideas for planning as well. We need to built a common area for workshops, place for visitors to stay and art galery.
There is a lot to do in the farm right now. To-do list changes from time to time with the season. (Harvesting, taking care of animals, construction work, planting, etc.) Also, it is better to decide what you can do in the farm according to your skills and interests.Languages spoken

We hava a seperate room in our home that you can stay alone. Kitchen and bathroom is common. We expect you to clean your room before you leave. We prefer to eat together. We believe sitting in a table together is the best time to come together as a family. However, you can also cook whatever you want for yourself in the kitchen as well. If you are vegetarian or vegan, please inform us before your arrival.
Our volunteers are welcome to stay for two weeks.
We do not smoke. So, we only expect non-smokers. Thank you for your understanding. What else ...
There is no wifi connection in the farm. There are internet cafes in the town center that you can go via bus (15 mins.) For day offs, it would be great if you take during the week days. Weekends are always busy in the farm. It would be great if you be in the farm during busy time.
For local sights, İzmir is one hour ride away. We go to İzmir city center once in a week by car. We can drop you in the morning and arrange the going back together. Also, there is a public bus goes to city center from in front of our farm. If you like, you can also make few days trips to near cities and come back if you like again. We definitely recommend you to visit Selçuk. It is an ancient city where you can find Ephesus (ancient Greek city), Artemis temple(one of the seven wonders of the world), Virgin Mary's house and Şirince (village famous with its vines). Also, Bergama is a close town to İzmir that contains another seven wonders of the world.A little more information

We were sooo lucky to have Manuel as our first volunteer. He contributed to our farm in so many ways without any complains. He is hardworking, passionate and so kind.
We missed him already. Hope to meet one day again:)
