Hello!

I'm Calum. I've recently finished my Honours in psychology and after the many stresses of that experience have decided to heed the call to ditch the big city (Sydney) and go explore some of this beautiful country!

I'm a budding writer and filmmaker. I love all things books and film. I also love quiet moments in nature, time to contemplate and be absorbed in the natural world. I've long been curious about food systems (I eat a primarily plant-based diet), smaller-scale living and have wanted to get out into the world and get my hands in amongst these ideas, rather than just reading about them in books and feeling totally abstracted from the problem in my city life.

I'm on workaway to meet people living outside of the urban centres and learn from them and be able to help with their projects in whatever way I can. I've been very fortunate in my life to have travelled outside Australia to various corners of the world. Workaway seems like an opportunity to travel more intentionally, to engage more deeply with communities and people trying to live in more sustainable ways and in closer connection to the Earth. I'm also hoping that I can use some of my time outside the hustle and bustle of the city to work on my writing and creative projects.

I'm a very willing worker and excited to take on whatever projects are thrown at me. I've got some basic skills and knowledge with using tools and gardening, though am a fast learner and eager to pick things up as I go.

Was könntest du arbeiten?

Have worked in a few maintenance roles (both gardening and in a photography studio); included mowing, weeding, edging/painting, cleaning, small repairs and other odd jobs.
Have basic knowledge/skills acquired from doing things around the house. E.g. building various things, e.g. garden beds, back deck, home gym. Persistent, though (mostly) unsuccessful attempts to grow veggies/fruit/herbs at home (something I'm eager to learn!).
