🌿 About Us

Mikayla (Ayla) is a calm, empathetic, and attentive soul with a background in mental health counseling. She’s a potter, a gardener, and someone who naturally creates grounded, nourishing spaces for others. She has volunteered around the world — from teaching English to refugees in the U.S. to helping with farming, animal care, and hospitality abroad. She loves learning languages to deepen cultural understanding and connection.

Kiefer is optimistic, compassionate, and endlessly curious. He comes from the tech world and brings an organized, thoughtful approach to everything he does. In the U.S. he spent time volunteering with homeless communities and cares deeply about dignity, belonging, and service.

We are an intentional, service-oriented married couple traveling long-term to learn from the world. We’re curious, open-hearted, and committed to slow, respectful, meaningful travel.

We’re drawn to places with deep cultural and spiritual roots, and we hope to contribute wherever we go, whether through hands-in-the-earth work, creative projects, caring for animals, or helping with community needs.

We believe in presence, kindness, and leaving every place a little better than we found it.

Mikayla is Portuguese-American. She also speaks a little Spanish, and is learning Greek and Arabic. She loves to learn languages to connect with locals during our travels! Language is not Kiefer’s strength but he is fluent in English :P

Was noch ...

Outside of volunteering, we love spending our days in nature, walking local trails, and sharing good conversations over tea. Mikayla has practiced yoga for years and enjoys reading, pottery, and exploring handmade crafts and folk art traditions wherever we go. Kiefer loves being active — whether it’s hiking, going to the gym, or simply moving outdoors — and he’s always up for thoughtful conversations about philosophy, culture, and the human experience.
