Edit stayed with us for a month to cover our breakfast host in times of sick leave. We were very lucky to find her last-minute, communication was clear and her willingness to travel immediate. She gave her best possible at any task given in our breakfast team of two workawayers. She can be described as a warm, educated and guest loving character

As I'm sitting on the ferry leaving Rügen after a good month in Binz, I wanna say a big thanks to the kind Franke family for having me. Especially to Jonay to be such a positive, uplifting main host. He is happy even when he is not happy. 🙂
All the good things previous workawayers wrote are true, plus I'd add that it was awesome to earn a good

I've also been very grateful for the other perks, the chance to borrow the e-bike regularly to explore the beautiful neighbourhood (the entire coast, Jasmund, Mönchgut is just wonderful!!), not to mention the walks with Jojo and the rides with Rasende Roland. 😃 And daily yum breakfast! Wondering who made it during my stay.🤔😉😄
To be honest as usual, 🙂 the accommodation was not my favourite but fair as it's free and its proximity to work and the beach is indeed great.
As it's been a paid position there have been some workplace dynamics to navigate but this time my immediate colleague was great. After the good initial training and some hiccups here and there I want to acknowledge how pleasant and easy it was to work and live with her, Aruna, the other workawayer. See you on Bholm maybe!
All in all thanks for everything Familie Franke and all the best to you always!

I had a really great 6 months work experience here, thanks to family Franke!
First of all, everyone was super friendly! I felt very welcome and comfortable in all times while being there! Jonay is great supervisor, generous and always correct and encouraging. The whole family is very positive, always smiling, and very caring, as for the staff
… read more and for the guests and so for the hotel itself.
The main part was to help with hotel maintenance, room housekeeping service, and occasionally in the kitchen. The hotel itself is very cosy, clean and organized. It was nice to work there.
With other girls we shared the apartment right next to the hotel, which is very comfortable when you start work early mornings. Each of us had an own room, and a shared little kitchen and bathroom which is more than enough when you spend summer time at the beach!
I never visited Island Rugen before then. But I must say that I was captivated by the sceneries from the very first minutes crossing the bridge of Rugen in train. Island Rugen is perfect in summer for natur and beach lovers, hikers and bike riders!
It is really amazing and beautiful place to travel and see.
There are plenty of places to discover like national park Jasmund, which is worth to go from very early morning and for the whole day! Visiting by ferry Hiddensee and staying nigh over on a west coast for a beautiful sunset! You can visit deer park in Putbus or special tropical park with butterflies in Sassnitz, you can go up to great viewing point in Prora, or try one of best ice-creams in Sellin on the Pier and walk long the cliff all the way back to Binz with mesmerising views of the shore! Binz itself is also very beautiful touristic city, with a great promenade long the beach and unforgettable sunrises, which were my favorite!

Your co-worker will take care of you and tell you everything you need to know about the job. Jonay and his team here hotel luckily agreed to host us very spontaneously when we were in big need of a place since another host had just cancelled our stay.
Hence, we didn't expect to even visit the beautiful lands of germany's north and its jewel Rügen. We were surprised of the amount of tourists that were still in Rügen and at the Villa at
… read more that time in late September, but that's exactly when Binz is most vibrant and alive.
Jonay and his team helped us to feel welcomed right from the beginning and continued to do so until we left. We didn't need to hesitate to ask for anything, but anyhow, the flat we were given was amazing anyways (especially after we did some alterations haha). The breakfast with the crew was another highlight everyday (I can guarantee, you'll fall in love with a northern german treat, called franzbrötchen) as well as the little walks on the beach or watching Jonay windsurf like a maniac.
The work was quite alright and easy to commit to. Anke's "tough love" in the kitchen helped to remain focused and Jonay motivated us with his eagerness and witt. If you work. you'll get rewarded, that's for sure!
