We stayed 2 week by Kristin and Mark and it really was an amazing experience. They are both so kind and fun, we felt very welcomed and it was great to hear about there life experiences. The work that we did with Kristin was various, from collecting carrobs and trees trimming to cleaning and walls painting, it was always done with fun and no pressure. The accommodation was perfect, we had our own space and the view ist pretty beautiful from there. We did activities together like going to the beach, to the town, danced on some music festival and they give us great advices to discover the surroundings such as islands and beaches. We did some pottery with Kristin, she is so fun and patient, we were so happy! We enjoyed every moment and we left with wonderful memories. Thank you for all Kristin and Mark!

Fabian is a fabulous person and worker. He is hard working, very skilled with the chainsaw, cutting up and stacking firewood. He cleared some trails through the forest for the horses and our Quad which was a lot of work. Fabian has a great personality, is easy to talk to, he loves playing board and card games and is just so easy to be with. I felt so comfortable leaving our horses and cats in his care when we had to go away for a few days. He is very good with both the horses and the cats. If you get a chance to host Fabian you will be very lucky.

Daniel & Mary are very kind and ambitious with a beautiful family. Together, they have a school which is growing faster than you can imagine! Daniel is also a pastor and Brazilian jiu-jitsu instructor, so you will learn a lot from him! Cape Coast is a stunning and relaxing place to visit. I recommend anyone interested in giving back and working with children. The schedule is quite relaxed, so anyone who is self-motivated and independent will thrive here. Unfortunately, my stay was cut short, but I recommend anyone who wants to help see an amazing project grow; they could use some expertise in media and fundraising! Thank you for having me on my short visit, and hope to be back soon.

It was a pleasure to have Kelly here at the shelter. Kelly has an amazing first day on arriving as i had rescued a pregnant dog and she went into labor the same night Kelly arrived so that was a great experience and welcome, Kelly showed great empathy and care for the dogs. A few of the dogs also returned her kindness and Kelly allowed some of them to sleep with her in her room. We would welcome Kelly back any time because she soon learned the daily tasks and had a great sense of humor.

This was my very first Workaway experience, and it was truly life-changing because of how much I learned. From the very first day, I felt comfortable and welcomed. Mladen was an incredible host—he not only taught me about raw vegan meals but also shared knowledge about shiatsu, qi gong, and healthy living, which really inspired me to see life in a different way. The accommodation was in a cozy apartment in Split, perfect for both relaxation and inspiration. The location was ideal—peaceful, yet close to town to explore. On top of that, I had the opportunity to visit some of the most beautiful nearby islands like Vis, which are easily accessible by ferry. And Mladen was nice enough to help me find my ferry 🥹 he also helped me booked a day tour. He was so nice and helpful I really do appreciate him. What I loved most was the companionship and the sense of sharing conversations . It was a mix of learning, peaceful living, cultural discovery, and meaningful connection. I’m deeply grateful to Mladen for making my first Workaway such a memorable and transformative experience.

Victoria, Stephen, Aurelia and Maxi, thank you so much for getting in touch with me and having me at your place 🙏🏼 You're amazing, kind, caring and open persons and I felt welcomed from the beginning. I value a lot how I got included in your day to day life as a family and I'm grateful for having spend this time with you! I stayed for 6 weeks. The first week I looked after the house, garden and Maxi the dog (unless he was on tractor mission). The following weeks tasks were diverse: I helped out building up the walls and roof frame of the 'adega' (soon to be 'retiro'), preparing the doughs of the breads, watering the garden, clearing the land, painting, some small maintenance tasks, ... There was a great balance between the time being dedicated to the tasks and personal time, so I had plenty of time for yoga and meditation practices, reading and walking around in the forest. I also joined Victoria, Stephen and Aurelia for walks/hikes, swimming, trips to the market, a soundhealing event at a neighbouring community, ... And each day Aurelia would come up with some fun (board) game to play so there was never a dull moment 😊 Thanks again for receiving me with open arms and for being the amazing persons you are ✨

I had the chance to live with Viktor for three weeks, and I grew very attached to both the place and the host! Viktor is a wonderful person with an open mind — he knows exactly what you need and always finds a way to help you and make your stay special. The work was sometimes challenging, but since the place is still in quite a raw state, every completed task brought a huge sense of satisfaction and motivation to keep going. Viktor is full of ideas and has vast knowledge, not only technical but also cultural. He speaks several languages and is a traveler, so his stories will never bore you! Thank you for your help, for sharing your knowledge, for your care, for taking me to the festival, for your support in Barcelona, and for driving me to the airport. I spent a wonderful time with you, and I’m sure I’ll come back one day 🫶🙌✨🌞

Ervin and his family were great hosts and very friendly and open minded people. Communication was super easy and quick. We did most of the work together with Ervins parents in law which was nice and uncomplicated. We lived in a small apartment which offered us all we needed. Very fair work expectations and a lot to see and explore in the surroundings. Ervin gave us a lot of information about the area which helped us a lot. Thanks guys and see you another time 👍🏼

My time at Joy and Heiko’s farm was nothing short of phenomenal. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with warmth and kindness, which made me feel at home. The work was engaging and well-organised. I learned a lot through hands-on experience and meaningful collaboration with other Workawayers. Teamwork was a strong part of the daily work rhythm. Joy and Heiko fostered an environment of mutual respect, learning, and good vibes. Life on the farm is communal but is definitely possible to get your own space and time if you need some for yourself; both Joy and Heiko are very understanding and easy-going. The cabin I stayed in had all the conditions for a relaxed living during the off-hours (that bed was excellent, especially because it was covered with a mosquito net) except the bathroom and kitchen which were on separate buildings. The bathroom is very clean and has a fantastic shower. The kitchen is really big but sometimes lacks one or another tool, definitely not a big deal. I was at the farm from mid-August until the first week of September, and therefore experienced the summer heat waves, and although the cabin got hot at the end of the day, Joy and Heiko prepared a LIFE SAVING fan, which shows that they care about your well being during your time there. On weekends we explored some of the most breathtaking places in the region, including an unforgettable trip to a stunning lake in Serra da Estrela. Between diving on the lake, going on walks or movie- or gaming nights, a magical touch was added to an already rich experience. If you’re looking for a Workaway experience that combines learning, nature, exploration and a host that is very human and will receive you as a human with its skills and defects, I wholeheartedly recommend Joy and Heiko’s farm.

Helen volunteered with us for a month at our hostel. She was an incredible asset and helped us tremendously during her time here. Helen is hardworking, thorough, and curious, and she loves learning new things. Plus, with her universal sense of humor, she's sure to be a great addition to the atmosphere of your place! We miss her already!

Mr.Daniel & Ms.Aline were visiting us a couples more than 2 weeks for Volunteering. Both of them are International English Teacher. They were so nice and humble to help us in English teaching and games also English practicing with all our students. The students loved the way of their teaching styles when they want back home the kids didn't want let them home cause the kids missed them. They did some hand book recording to help the students on listening skill. My stay lasted almost 3 weeks (September). I was meant to look after her dog, but she died a couple of weeks before I arrived. I was worried Elisabetta would cancel my stay, but I needed not worry at all. The setting is rural so there was plenty of other things to do. I was given a lovely room with a fantastic view, also she does have two normal bathrooms, a fantastic shower and a washing machine (in case you are worried about the 'off grid' reference in her profile). Elisabetta (vegetarian) would cook most nights which was great and unexpected. She is a hospitable and bubbly person to be around. Selva is well located; so close to what I think is the best part of the island, but you do need your own car to go anywhere. If like me, you work per output rather than time, I would advise to just stick to the 4 hours/day and make every afternoon your own to explore the so many wonderful beaches, towns and villages rather than clocking extra hours which will go unnoticed. If you are attracted by her mentioning of the Akashic Records in her profile and expect to get some insight about them, she appeared to be quite reluctant to talk about it, with me at least (I tried addressing the topic a couple of times, but it was like pulling teeth so I let it lie) which is why I dropped a star. But the place is indeed fantastic and Elisabetta is a kind and positive person who will include you in her social outings!

There’s really no point to write a reference for someone like Camilla since words can’t describe the value of her contribution to our project and our lives. Happy travels!

Experiencing wine harvest is a tick off the bucket list but experiencing it with Jane and Hugh is REALLY the memorable part of the experience! Hugh is super knowledgable and non stop sharing everything there is to know about well..everything topped off w a few dad jokes for good measure. And Jane is a master in the kitchen and just an all around legend! Harvest season is truly a time of camaraderie so across 3 vineyards we were able to experience the whole life cycle for sparkling, white, rose and red for both personal bottling and contribution to the co-op- most importantly I was able to squish the grapes with my feet! 2025 will be a good vintage ;). The wine was free flowing, the food amazing, the laughs loud and we even learnt a thing or two! Thanks so much to the whole gang for such a wonderful experience!

I stayed one month and it was amazing. The hostel is an incredible place to do a workaway ! The work is easy : clean the rooms, common space and sometimes the check-in ! Then you will meet all the guests and be able to meet dozens of fantastics people ! The allowance given for the food every week is more than enough, and the local markets offer a lot of good vegetables ! Veliko Tarnovo is a cute medieval city where you can do some hikes, enjoy the art vibe and the good food ! And finally, the Manager, Rado is well organised and kind, he knows how to welcome people and make the place feel safe and home sweet home ! I can only recommend this workaway !

We stayed with Rebecca for about a month both assisting her directly as well as house sitting for a two week period as she treated herself to a well deserved holiday! As stated she really just needed an extra pair of hands and some company as she was recovering from an injury. We became friends and enjoyed running errands and cabana hunting as well as some light gardening work, cleaning and shared breakfasts. More of a pleasure than a task is caring for her animals as they have got to be the silliest most brilliant gang of misfits ever! Stanley (the boss) decided to be an indoor dog and our bff until Elon the bratty younger brother bull-dosed his way into the space and our hearts as the GOAT dog. Her majesty stays pretty in toe with Rebecca but her appearances are legendary with top shelf side eyes and leg licks. But wait there's more! Non stop eggs and fun with her 7 chickens who rudely do not like hats but love to accompany you wherever you go and sneak into the house for a giggle. The ninja cats only appear in flashes at night while enjoying the beautiful starry sky and mountain views on the terrace after a lovely day. Rebecca is lovely and her love and appreciation for mountains, fresh air, burgers and tea time chats were truly a delight!
