Charlotte is an absolutely amazing person, and we were delighted to welcome her as a volunteer this summer. Her clarity, helpfulness, thinking along and openness to new tasks made her a great help on the land. I would highly recommend her as a volunteer and we would love to see her again!

What an amazing experience! Isaac and Kleaw were great hosts who always made me feel very comfortable and were on hand for any questions or problems I may have had. Working on natural constructions was so interesting and I learnt so much! Thank you Isaac and Kleaw and good luck!

Leo was a wonderful volunteer at our place and his presence made our group complete during the summer. He is extremely friendly, helpful and willing to take on any task. Together, we completed tasks that we had never done before, working perfectly as a team. I would highly recommend Leo as a volunteer.

I spent just under one month here in Adria, and I had a great time! This was my first doing workaway, and I couldn't have asked for a better first experience. Elizabeth and her family were incredibly welcoming, the children were lovely, the teaching work was fulfilling, and integration into the community was made very easy by everyone:)

I spent 3 weeks at Keelung and had a great time. Mila is a flexible host and arranges tasks acordingly to your interests. I ended up preparing food, painting, hosting events for locals, and some cleaning. You get assigned tasks on Trello and sometimes the task description can be confusing so you will need to initiate and communicate with Mila. This happened a few times but Mila responded quickly and was able to answer any questions I had. As a volunteer, you have the oppurtunitiy to join the tours the organization organizes and I enjoyed them a ton. Besides volunteering, I had fun exploring the cute cafes, hiking, and visiting areas around Keelung. Taipei is only a 1 hour transit away so you can easily do days trips there and back. Thank you Mila for such a fun opportunity!

Had such a great time staying with Belinda! The place is comfy, there's a chill space to hang out in the evenings, and the pantry and fridge were always well stocked. Belinda is super friendly and explains everything clearly (also a booklet to help schedule your day). The town of Chidlow is also fun and there's enough to do around the town to keep you entertained for a few weeks. You do work, but I learned loads and had fun doing things I wouldn't usually do. Would happily stay again—you just need to love dogs and be ready to pitch in when needed. Thanks, Belinda!

Steve is your classic grumpy Taiwanese uncle. Sometimes, it is because he is grumpy or stressed, but really he is one of the best hosts I've had in my three workaway experiences so far. You can tell he cares for his volunteers by the way he remembers their names, his display of photos at his tea shop, and the way he tries to arrange cultural experiences for the volunteers. I was only at Steve's farm for a week but in the short time we had together, Steve became like a Taiwanese dad for me. Due to the rain and potential landslide hazard, there were a few days where we didn't end up going to the farm to work. Besides some physical work at the farm, like weeding, carrying logs, etc, I also helped Steve paint and wrote feedback on workaway (with my guai guai english according to Steve) . During my free time, I'd use the U-bikes nearby to bike around the city. Oftentimes, Steve would invite me out to eat with his friends, which was always interesting and delicious. Steve loves to talk. If sometimes you feel that he talks too much and want a break during the car rides, play one of his two favorite ABBA songs, Chiquitita or The Winner Takes It All, and you'll get to enjoy his singing instead. :) 多謝 Steve!

Going to a new workaway is always a surprise. You can read their profile and their reviews but you won't know if you like the place, the host and the tasks untill you get there. I arrived at Jan's place and was immediatly struck by the pretty garden. In my first chat with her she told me I was boring for not drinking nor smoking. And I thought oh, I know it's a joke but there seemed to be some truth in it. She likes party people. And here I am, an introvert. But she was kind nevertheless. Since the seperate cottage wasn't booked, I could stay there. Had my own place, but was always welcome to spend time in the main house too. Then, I got sick on the first night there. Jan was really kind about it, even said to just rest if I needed to. I thought she must hate me already. But she kept being kind, made dinner separately for me so I could have something light that I could eat while sick. Luckily I got better soon, she let me weed in the garden, let me do it at my pace and with any needed breaks. I wanted to work double since I didn't work the day before because I was sick. But Jan just said okay that's it for today go enjoy the weather. She invited me to join her when her friends visited and took me to town, both if I asked for it, as well as when she was heading there. I was always welcome to join. But only if I wanted to. Jan eats in front of the tv and is really informal. And I really liked spending time with her. Watching tv, chatting in the commercials, talking about life. Jan is real and I really like that, she is real and she is kind. She appreciated the work. It happened to be her birthday when I was there, and I am happy that I was able to be there for her birthday. I can really recommend Jan, she is an amazing host!

So happy we found this amazing eco-farm with inspiring, welcoming people and friendly animals in a stunning location! Matej is a great host, easy going, generous and full of energy. Work was flexible and varied with little projects to choose from. We were served delicious meals from the farm, with a daily supply of fresh dairy and cheese! A unique experience we'll treasure forever and a fantastic detox. Huge thanks!

Em stayed with us for almost three weeks and was a wonderful, uplifting presence in our little community. She arrived together with three or four other Workawayers and, as the eldest in the group, brought a calm, steady energy that gave everyone a sense of support and togetherness. She is genuinely curious, open and a great communicator — always interested in our way of life, happy to exchange ideas and stories, and quick to build connections with everyone around her. Em also has a lovely sense of humour and we shared many laughs during her stay. She cooks beautifully and contributed a lot to our shared meals and the good atmosphere in the house. We’re deeply grateful for her social spirit, her willingness to help and the warmth she brought to our place. We wish her all the best on her travels and hope our paths cross again one day. With gratitude, Laura & Andreas

I want to thank Yogendra and his beautiful family for hosting in July and making me feel welcomed and at home! The volunteering project itself is an unique experience of teaching kids and doing sport activities or leading creative classes, both were fun:) The kids are lovely and the teaching staff support you, especially the principal, he's a very convivial person. It's a great opportunity to discover Nepal and Newari culture, personally for me it was a great time which I will carry in my memories for many years ahead)

Carla and Stefano stayed with us for almost three weeks and brought so much colour and joy into the place. This young, slightly crazy and very lovable couple from Italy slipped beautifully between their own digital work and the tasks here — always finding a good balance and showing up with laughter, openness and a helping hand. They were great fun to be with, curious, proactive and full of energy. Even after a day of work Stefano would still grab wood or tidy up something with his unstoppable energy, while Carla added her own warm and creative touch to everything. Together with the other Workawayers they helped create a vibrant, happy group spirit. We’re truly grateful for their presence, their help and the good times shared. We wish them both all the best on their journey and hope life keeps bringing them adventures, learning and love. With gratitude, Laura & Andreas

Shai and Sara stayed with us for a while and it was a truly beautiful experience. These two young women from Israel brought openness, curiosity and a lot of bright, uplifting energy into our home. They helped with many different tasks, were eager to learn new things and shared their own culture with gratitude and warmth while exploring ours. Both are very skilled with their hands – Shai is especially talented with tools and already thinking about instrument making, and Sara brought her own creative touch, kindness and steady support to everything she did. They were always helpful, flexible and a joy to have around. We are deeply grateful for the time together and for the exchange of cultures, stories and laughter. We wish them both all the best on their journey and hope our paths cross again one day. With gratitude, Laura & Andreas

One of my favorite workaways of all time! And that is saying a lot! Right from the start, Riyas's chill attitude while I was finalizing my plans, to his and Dharmendra's enthusiastic welcome when I arrived. I knew it was going to be an experience of a lifetime. Not to mention, you look out the back door and see the crashing surf of the Indian Ocean! You go to sleep and wake up to the sound of ocean waves. There is all the horse time you want. Sometimes I would just go out and stand, surf the 'net, well, just standing with them and sharing their vibes. And the students are lovely. I had so many memorable conversations with them after the lessons! We would sit around and talk until dark, sometimes sitting around a bonfire drinking tea and sharing snacks. Riyas is an engaging conversationalist. All his friends are, too, and I learned so much about Indian culture and spirituality while I was there. I love the horses with their pointy ears, so I studied up on the Marwari, Kathiawari, and Sndhi horses. What a fascinating breed, and they have that unique smooth as silk trot. If you're lucky enough to get accepted, by all means take it! You will create so many memories you will always look back on with fondness!

Bodewein stayed with us for two weeks and quickly became a natural part of our little community. With several other Workawayers here at the same time, he brought openness, kindness and a warm, uplifting energy to the group – we shared a lot of laughter and good moments together. He approached every task with care and willingness, often asking how else he could help. We loved his flexibility – travelling by bike, happily pitching his tent when space was tight – and the soulful music he shared with his guitar. We truly appreciated his presence and support and warmly recommend him to any future host. Andreas and Laura

My stay with Siri was lovely. I had to teach the children in the evenings with some days off. This left the morning and early afternoon free to explore the surroundings or work (if you're a digital nomad or similar). There are nice temples and waterfalls which Siri took me and the other volunteers to. She always made sure we had enough to eat and I really felt at home. Thank you for this special experience. I wish you all the best.

I enjoyed living with Nicola and Lisa, a lovely Italian couple who contributed daily to making the place welcoming and super clean. They were also very helpful with tasks that went beyond the usual cleaning, such as painting the walls or giving a quick lesson in basic mechanics to understand car maintenance. Punctual and flexible, I can only recommend them to all future hosts.

Tony is such a lovely man. He supplied me with an abundance of cultural experiences in his and surrounding communities. He is very involved in his community activities such as volunteering, exercise classes, church activities, bingo, the boat club and much more. There are many ways you can be of service such as cooking, cleaning, organizing , landry, yardwork and dump runs. I get the feeling Tony will not necessarily ask so take the initiative if you see something that needs doing just do it! He is very appreciative of any help and loves everything you cook for him .He loves a nice healthy smoothie in the morning as well. He is not fussy nor is he a micromanager. He is kind, generous ,easygoing, funny, open minded and appreciative guy. I hope to see him again next year and many to come.
