I spent a few days with Mahesh and his family and had an amazing time. They made me feel completely at home and truly part of the family — everyone was incredibly kind, caring, and welcoming. Rosemarie, his wife, is such a warm-hearted and loving person; she made me feel so cared for and truly felt like my own mother. I really enjoyed connecting with the family and especially loved teaching and meeting the children of all ages. The kids were all so loving, and being around them reminded me how much I enjoy teaching and working with children. The schedule was quite busy, but I genuinely loved it, and Mahesh always made sure I was well looked after and had breaks between classes. I would absolutely recommend this experience to anyone who loves teaching and being part of a loving family.

I stayed with Erjon and Rebecca for the entire month of November and it was truly an amazing experience! From the moment I met them they made me feel so welcome. Over time I learned so many interesting facts about their garden, I got to work with the beekeeper and Erjon passed some of his knowledge on to me. In my free time I used the bike to explore the Island, enjoyed the stunning beaches, hiked the numerous trails and participated in a running training. I only have good things to say about these hosts and can highly recommend applying!

Spending those short 10 days with Ania and her beautiful family was one of the best decisions during my backpacking. We had a phone call with Ania some days before I arrived to go over where I am needed mostly and how the days are going to look like. She told me that the Workawayer is part of the family from day 1 and takes part in whatever she feels like with some simple daily tasks to have to complete. As soon as I arrived I had the warmest welcome and my own little studio at the end of the garden. The whole family was not only very kind but very good and fun company. Their home is a little paradise in the middle of nature and close to the beautiful shores for which they care very much. I would definitely go back and I am so grateful for these days that brightened my sometimes challenging days while traveling. Keeping them in my heart and if I ever go back to Mallorca they will be the first to know it!❤️

I enjoyed my time at Nuncio and Olga's house. It was such a rich experience and I had adventures and met new people. The food was delicious, Olga is such a good cook, even if the work was some days hard, sitting at the table enjoying the meals of Olga, let all the exhausment disappear. Besides that she was really caring and looking after me and sometimes making me feel better, when I felt bad, without the necessity of me saying something, she saw it. Nunzio is nice and straight forward, we were learning languages together, chatting while driving and getting work done. I also learned a lot while working with him, which will be important for me one day. Both showed interest in my well being and cared for me. And also the guests and family were very nice and attentive. They made their house a home for me. The work might be hard sometimes, but it really is worth it. I thank you again for the rich and lovely time I had & the delicious food!!!

It’s hard to describe this experience in just a few sentences, but I’ll try. I spent one month at the foundation and the time flew by so fast - I would have loved to stay longer. This place is truly incredible and feels like one big family. You can really see how much heart and passion goes into the project and how much the children and adults enjoy coming here every day. Martin is an extremely generous and welcoming person. He always invited us volunteers to everything and spent a lot of time with us outside of work. We often made asado together or went rafting. There are many other volunteers, so there’s always someone up for doing something. We cooked together, went to bars, hiking, to the bodegas or horseback riding. Our tasks included watering the plants, taking care of the animals (chickens, rabbits, cats and dogs), working in the garden, organizing food/donations, helping out in the kitchen or whatever was needed at the time. I arrived four weeks before the end of the school year, which ended with a celebration - So we built a stage, painted stuff and prepared presents for the kids. The “fin de año” celebration was a very special and emotional event. I’m very grateful that I was able to experience the entire process from the very beginning to the final event and to meet so many awesome people :) Muchas Gracias por todo! Mila

Pablo me dió una oportunidad preciosa para intentar mi habilidad profesional. Yo quería intentar algo con mi arte durante la estadía en Chile, entonces él me pidió que dibujara mapas con ilustración y dibujes de los animales del fundo para mejorar el servicio. Pablo fue una persona llena de energía y fue muy divertido crear algo nuevo juntos. Me alegré mucho cuando se alegró viendo los dibujes terminados. Cuando vengas al fundo, busca mis dibujes:) Hice también limpieza, preparación del quincho, y ayuda en excursiones de colegio. A veces las tareas necesitaron fuerza, pero fueron fácil de aprender y buenos ejercicios. Además, me encantaron los animales bonitos! Muchas gracias Pablo y todos por experiencia maravillosa!! Pablo gave me a precious opportunity to try my profesional skill. I have wanted to try something with my art, then he requested me to make maps with illustration and illustrations of the animals of the site to improve services. Pablo was a energetic person and it was fun to create something new together. I was so glad when he was happy to see finished illustrations. When you come there, please look for my illustrations:) I also did cleaning, preparation of BBQ site and helping with school trips. The works sometimes needed power but they were easy to learn and good exercises. And I love the choir cute animals! I would like to thanks so much, Leila, for welcoming me into her home. She is an incredibly kind and thoughtful host, and her cooking is absolutely delicious. I truly enjoyed every meal. I will miss so much Marius as well, her dog, he is just too cute and an absolute sweetheart! The room I had was spacious and quiet, the house is very comfortable. She has big plans for the house and needs an handful and organised person to help her out.

We just left Sandra and Keith’s farm and we still can’t believe the experience we just had. Right from the start, they were so generous with us: it was only supposed to be one of us coming to their place, but due to a last-minute change on our side, they accepted to take us both without any hesitation, even though it was a one-person job. They are honestly the most generous people we’ve ever met. It’s impossible to describe how spoiled we felt: they treated us like their own children, taking extra time to teach us things they didn’t have to, just because they wanted us to get the best, taking us everywhere they went, etc. Sandra always went above and beyond with her baking and cooking. We’ve never been so well fed, and we’re pretty sure we’re leaving their place with a few extra pounds. We’re sorry we ate all your food, but it was too good! And believe us when we say the food was delicious, we’re French and very serious about food. Besides being generous, they are also incredibly open-minded. Keith’s funny storytelling can make any meal or any moment spent with him fly by. They are an extraordinary couple, they never complain about anything; they just get things done, no matter what. We witnessed some of this resilience as we were on their farm during a challenging time, while Keith was going through surgery. We hope we can carry a bit of that with us in our own lives: to be a little tougher, just like the people of Saskatchewan. We hope we can come back one day to visit these wonderful people and this beautiful province!

We really enjoyed having Joel staying with us, he helped us with some destruction & renovation work, organisation of space & wood. He also took great care of our dog Vadoo. He is a very openhearted and easy going person, always ready to lend a hand. He would always try to understand the work expectations so the communication was very good. We shared great conversations together. He also taught some tennis skills. overall we wish he had stayed longer with us, hope to meet you again in the future Joel ! Cheers

This was my first Workaway experience, and I couldn’t have asked for a better one. I spent almost two weeks and felt at home since the first day. Joel is kind, relaxed, and always ready to help or give tips about the area. The work was easy and fun, mostly cleaning, some gardening, small changes around, and painting. Joel is open to ideas and appreciates when you add your own touch La Cruz is quiet, surrounded by nature, and perfect for peaceful days. The locals are very friendly and welcoming. Great conversations, asados, and shared bottles with Joel, Javi, and friends made the experience even more special🙂 Highly recommended!🚴

Where do I even begin? This was my first Workway experience, first time travelling alone and to Europe. I spent 1 week in Rome with Roberta, Luca, Blanca, Diana (and the cats) and it was the best experience I could have asked for. From the moment I arrived (scared and jet-lagged), I felt so welcomed, loved and cared for by everyone. This is a beautiful family with such a healthy and loving dynamic. Roberta was a mother figure to me, and her daughters my friends. I was also introduced to friends of the family who immediately welcomed me and even showed me around Rome. I went to work with Roberta for a few hours during the weekdays to assist in English language teaching. The students were all so lovely. I absolutely enjoyed myself more than I ever expected to and am saddened I won't be able to attend anymore. Tasks around the house were simple, reasonable and balanced. I will cherish my time in Rome with this sweet family and their friends. The bond they all have with each other was a beautiful thing to witness and take part in. Roberta is an great cook- I thoroughly enjoyed every meal and never went hungry. Blanca, Diana and their friend Elena made me feel like we had been friends for years. Luca was always polite and gentle with me. The cats were insanely intelligent and Jupi would sit in the bathroom with me in the mornings when I brushed my teeth. I will always cherish the time I spent here, immersed in Roman Italian culture, part of a loving family and community. And while I loved sightseeing Rome, the highlight of my trip will have to be the smaller moments spent with the family. I am beyond grateful for this experience. From the bottom of my heart, thank you thank you. I hope to see you all again in the future 💛🇮🇹

Wendy & Greg are very generous hosts; working and free time are flexible such as breaks and day offs. They took me to their favourite restaurants, stunning sights around the area and introduced me to their friends. They welcomed me with open arms to their home and shared their daily life with me, such as many interesting stories from their lifes. It was everything but boring staying at the beautiful frog farm - where is always something to do.

To get all the details about the stay, Aymeric will send a PDF document, where everything is nicely explained. I had a really good time. The place is very peaceful and Aymeric made me feel very welcome. You have a nice kitchen and all the ingredients you need for cooking. The work was fun and not too much and it is nice to also see the village and of course the river dolphins. Would really recommend a stay there :)

This Workaway is really unique! It’s a great opportunity to experience life on a small island and meet people who live for sailing and the sea. Our tasks included preparing things for an event and the upcoming season. We made firewood from fallen trees, took care of the donkeys and the garden or cleaned boats to get them ready for the sea again. Pascal also showed us a little bit of sailing, which definitely was a highlight for me! Thank you! Speaking of Pascal – he is a really great host who made sure to create a warm and welcoming environment where everyone felt comfortable and appreciated. I really recommend joining this peaceful place! And I hope I can learn how to sail with you someday :) Mila

I had an amazing time here at the farm of Zezé. He is a great host who always wants that everybody has a good time and is very supportive for example he drove me to the airport on my last day. The farm is only around 30 mins from Puno in the Huerta Huaraya neighbourhood. Here is the perfect place to chillout or explore the surrounding mountains. Half of my stay I shared my room with another volunteer, the rest of the time I had it for me. It's part of the farm house but it's renovated and very comfortable. The work was very interesting because there are many different tasks and I learned a lot (for example how to fix the roof or how to plaster a wall) but also less exhausting jobs like taking care of the puppies which are really cute. José, the housekeeper, showed me all the tasks. He is really nice and it was a lot of fun to work with him. The working times are very flexible and you can talk with Zezé to manage your free time to be able to visit Puno and the lake Titicaca. He is very understanding and you will have enough time to enjoy the time in the farm as well. It is a very social voluntariado since there are other volunteers and we often cooked together or organized a barbecue together with Zezé and José and bonfire in the garden. This was my personal highlight of my time here. All in all I really enjoyed my time in the farm and highly recommend to take a stop here on your trip through South América! Thanks a lot to Zezé and José who made this time here so special!

In December, I spent 10 days with Hillary, Leo and Arya. This was a wonderful experience. Hillary is a warm and engaging person. Her delicious meals were accompanied by good conversation, wine, games and laughter. Being walked by Leo and Arya among the olive and almond trees was a lovely way to start the day. The accommodation for the volunteers is comfortable and homey. Hillary had a list of chores and a plan was made for each day in good consultation. She has a special place in my heart and hopefully, this first visit won't be the last!

This was my first Workaway and I really enjoyed it. Annie is a very kind and welcoming person, and I could see how important this sanctuary is to her. The tasks were very varied, i learned a lot and became very fond of the animals. I would love to come back again.
