Hi! I was looking for a job to fill my free time during the winter. Based on my skills, I selected various options available through Workaway and finally happily agreed to work (from November 14 to December 18, 2025) with Sabrina and Hansjörg on their organic farm projects. They live in a beautiful farm with their two lively children, Finnian and Aluna, several nice other residents and collaborators, and, of course, cows, horses, chickens, and cats! Sabrina and Hansjörg are truly kind and helpful, as well as serious and professional workers. I always felt welcome and supported! The social environment that is created is always friendly and rich in exchanges, and I have always eaten very well and at will during our lunches together! I also made friends with the other residents (both temporary and permanent) of the farm: they were always friendly, kind, and helpful! The apartment where I lived and, in general, every room in the house is equipped with all amenities, well maintained, clean, and functional. The place is also well connected and easy to find, as well as being surrounded by countryside and offering views of the beautiful Swiss mountains, green hills, and forests! Magical! Overall, I had a new, rewarding, and fulfilling experience! I hope to return one day to say hello!

I had the great pleasure of volunteering at Liljana’s shelter in Vlora for about two weeks. The organization is incredibly warm, professional, and deeply committed to animal welfare. Every day was filled with meaningful tasks, whether caring for the dogs and cats, gardening, organizing, or helping with the daily operations of the shelter. Liljana and her team live their mission with so much passion and dedication – you immediately feel welcome and part of the community. I learned a lot about animal care, sustainable work in an NGO, and Albanian culture. The dogs and cats are all unique, friendly, and full of character – it was a true joy to work with them. I highly recommend the Shelter in Vlora to anyone who is motivated, open-minded, and loves animals. Many thanks to Liljana and her team for this enriching experience. I hope to return next year!

I stayed for 5 weeks with Sonja and Holger, actually one week longer than was first planned. It was a very pleasant experience to be accommodated in a nice guest room on this peaceful and quiet piece of land in the middle of nowhere. 😅 the (sand) road is literally ending close to their farm (dead-end), so it’s very rural and remote but yet within an hour by car you can already reach Lisbon. So it was an ideal base for me to stay with them and still be able to visit the capital, nearby cities and horse-farms to get riding lessons. It was a very good time with them and their animals and I already miss the cuddles with the dogs, goats and horses. If you’re interested in the rural life of Portugal, vegetable farming and animal care you should definitely consider visiting and working with Sonja and Holger!

We spent one month volunteering in October 2025, and we absolutely loved the experience. We worked with a wide variety of animals in a beautiful setting, enjoyed a fantastic team atmosphere, and were accommodated in a lovely cottage with a chimney, located just in front of the horses’, sheep’s, and deer enclosures. We really appreciated having two days off per week, meals adapted to our dietary requirements, and the opportunity to enjoy the delicious unsold food from the park café. Barbara was mainly responsible for the feedings and cleaning the enclosures. She also did some gardening, painting, and assisted in the shop whenever needed. As for me, Leo, I mainly helped with park maintenance, including landscaping, construction, and repairs. I was always available to assist with feeding and caring for the animals when required. We highly recommend this place to anyone wishing to work with a variety of iconic Australian animals, right next to the Great Ocean Road !

We spent three weeks volunteering at Locky’s Legacy in November 2025, and we absolutely loved the experience. This sanctuary specialises in wombats, and our main mission was to finish the wombatorium, which we successfully completed! We also built a fence in the sheep enclosure for the car park. Most of the work involved painting and building with Don, helping Lyn with feedings, cleaning enclosures, picking fresh grass, and doing laundry. We stayed in a fully equipped bus, which was quite a unique and memorable camping-style experience. Meals were provided every day, and all dietary requirements were accommodated. Leo stayed an additional two weeks and had the chance to witness the opening of the wombatorium, enjoy the Christmas atmosphere, help clean and organise the shed, assist Don with collecting food for the animals, and support Lyn whenever needed. Don and Lyn were wonderful hosts. Along with their dogs, Ricky and Casey, we shared card games, watched cricket, enjoyed a few beers, and had lovely smoko breaks with coffee and biscuits. We highly recommend this place, especially if you love wombats, you’ll be more than happy for sure !

Ruth came to us in the darkest and coldest time of the year when even we find it hard to appreciate the beauty of the surroundings. But born and raised on a farm in the mountains Ruth seemed not affected and was full of energy to learn and work and experience... Not afraid to take on any kind of job we noticed quickly that she was used to and skilled at physical work. She was accurate and inquisitive. Showed responsibility and an always positive attitude. She was pleasant to have around and we enjoyed her company and travel stories. We can truly recommend Ruth as a solid and reliable extra hand.

Yeshe vive in un posto incantato, silenzioso e pieno di stelle. La sistemazione nella casetta a pochi metri dalla sua abitazione è funzionale anche se di inverno può essere un po' freschino l'uso del bagno esterno. Il lavoro che abbiamo fatto per lei è stato ben pianificato, con una persona (altro workawayer amico di yeshe) che ci ha guidato nella realizzazione di un muro in pietre e cemento. Non siamo riusciti a trascorrere tanto tempo con yeshe quanto avremmo desiderato ma abbiamo avuto una buona comunicazione generale e organizzativa e abbiamo condiviso una bella cena insieme. speriamo tanto ci saranno altre occasioni di trascorrere altro tempo insieme.

My stay at Cécile & Nishant's Place was amazing. There were various small tasks to do (organisation, painting, make place for a new woodburner, take the dog out) and Cécile & Nishant just let you feel as a normal part of their life. I learned a lot about indian traditions, shared good conversations and they are just amazing hosts! I can only recommend trying to be a workaway at their place! Thanks a lot Cécile & Nishant - i enjoyed it so much!

What can i say! We had a blast of summer with Ruben and Katrin, missing them already... Workwise: they were eager to learn, picked upon different things easily, were responsible,accurate with eye for detail, on time, flexible and enduring when the workload became serious. Socially: they fit in like family. Always pleasant to be around, good for a laugh, with positive attitudes. We enjoyed many an evening exchanging experiences, ideas, inventions, business plans and dreams (many of which overlapped) Welcome back always!!

What a guy! Cai joined us this Autumn and helped us deliver our Halloween events to the public. He had such a varied skillset and a hard working attitude. His outdoor skills made him an amazing assistant to our instructor staff. His experience as a carpenter and woodsman meant he could help our maintenance crew with various projects and builds. He helped build some new forts in our combat arena and found and fixed so many arrows from our Archery range. We miss him tons and would be very lucky to find another volunteer like Cai. If you need a helping hand, he's your man!

I truly enjoyed my time at the fort. It was a rather rustic experience, but I still felt I had everything I needed and was very well taken care of (including the vegetarian and gluten-free meal for each lunch/ dinner :) ). And whenever the days were getting colder, we had a fireplace in each room to keep us warm. The work was not too challenging and each day I had the flexibility to choose tasks aligned with my interests and capabilities. In the spare time I was able to explore the local mountains and forests – the hiking trails were just around the corner and the views were spectacular. I am very glad to have spend time with Maryline, Ronan, Diego and Cedric (and Colette often checking in) – they are welcoming, funny and genuine people. And very patient with my broken French.. I hope to be back someday!

Es maravillosa. Se siente en cada parte el amor que pusieron Ellen y Nico para que sea un lugar lleno de vida y abundancia. Hay tareas diferentes para todos y nunca uno se aburre por hacer la misma cosa cada día (pintura,bio construcción, weeding, cuidar la huerta, manejo de plátano…). Me quede 4 meses allá y me enamore de todo : la naturaleza, los bichos de la casa, los animales salvajes que viven en el jardín con nosotros y se dejan observar, y por supuesto con Ellen y Nico, unas personas muy buenas, profundas y inspiradoras con quien aprendí mucho y que por seguro volveré a ver. Gracias para toda esa energía, charlas y risas que compartimos ❤️

Adam is a great guy and the perfect host if it’s your first workaway experience. He was funny, patient and exceedingly accommodating to all of my needs. Be sure to go in with an open mind and you will come out with an unforgettable experience - he will teach you an abundance of new skills all while cooking some great food, telling hilarious stories and immersing you in an authentic Polish experience. I simply couldn’t recommend it higher!

Shira is the best! She visited my farm for a week during the autumn and helped me with various tasks, including planting trees, debarking logs, cleaning walnuts etc. She was very eager to help and seemed to have a lot of fun spending time outdoors and exploring.

Questa è stata la mia prima esperienza di workaway e sono rimasta molto contenta! Ho passato con loro un mese e mi sono sentita come a casa. Seppur fosse un momento molto delicato per loro con la nascita del bebé, mi sono sempre sentita accolta e ascoltata. Eleanor è una bambina molto vivace, con cui sicuramente non ci si annoia! Insieme abbiamo fatto molte attività creative e all'aria aperta. I momenti liberi poi non sono mancati ed è stato meraviglioso poter trascorrerli in mezzo alla natura o a Parigi, che è molto comoda da raggiungere. Un grazie speciale va a Sofia, che apre la sua casa con molta disponibilità e fiducia. A presto!

I volunteered at Kadsala Village for two weeks, and it was a truly rewarding experience. During my stay, I supported the team with video creation and produced nearly 450 short clips that can be used for marketing and promotional purposes. I also assisted in teaching English alongside other volunteers and helped resolve technical issues related to PayPal, TripAdvisor, and other online platforms. Pantila and Mae Nai are wonderful, kind-hearted people who made us feel very welcome. They often took us to local markets, taught us how to cook traditional Thai food, and even showed us a nearby wood-carving village. I stayed with other volunteers, and the overall exchange was meaningful, enjoyable, and enriching. I’m grateful for the experience and the connections I made there.

Recomiendo a cualquier familia la compañía de Victoria. Es una chica muy amable, independiente, ordenada y cumple todas sus tareas sin ningún problema. Estoy muy agradecida de su estancia en mi casa y por todas las cosas en las que ha ayudado, aprendiendo muy rápidamente. Sin duda mi casa está de nuevo abierta para cuando ella quiera volver. Gracias Victoria! =)

He compartido más de un mes y medio en casa con Marta y realmente ha sido un autentico placer. Marta es una gran persona por encima de todo. Ama y cuida a los animales como nadie, y a las personas también. Trampa, la perrita de casa, la va a echar mucho de menos, y yo también! Siempre atenta, dispuesta a ayudar y con una sonrisa. Tiene mucha iniciativa y es muy responsable en todo. Hemos compartido charlas, comidas, tareas, hemos visto fútbol y hemos compartido un poco de todo. Realmente, un lujo compartir estas semanas con ella. Espero que el camino te lleve a un buen destino y algún día puedas volver a casa, siempre serás bienvenida!

I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time with Josep and his family. They are very special people, generous and open-hearted. Moreover, the area is beautiful, and there is plenty of fun things to do.

se potessi fermare il tempo...lo farei! Alessia, è stata una presenza sottile ma forte. Sempre discreta, sorridente anche nei momenti di piccole difficoltà. Ha cercato sempre di mettersi in gioco, di capire e ascoltare l'universo della Fondazione. Stare insieme ad un gruppo, di cui 15 sono insieme da 27 anni. Un maestro che vede oltre i confini e sa essere giocoso come un bambino ma diretto e deciso nel combattere le 'nostre paturnie cosmiche'. Alessia ha vissuto tantissimi momenti, anche alcuni delicati, eppure ha appreso ogni cosa con un punto di vista morbido e fluido. Ha fatto Taichi non solo nella lezione ma nella giornata. Morbida e costante. Anche se vegetariana, ha mostrato come pochi, un rispetto totale per la nostra cucina e per i pasti. Potendo stare nella nostra casetta mobile, ha dato pure supporto alla nostra cara Annamaria, ospite anche lei presso la Fondazione, con premura in ogni cosa. Uno spirito così bello e raro incontrarlo. Io, Ashanti, come figlia del Fondatore, la ringrazio di cuore per la sua essenza. Mi ha riempito il cuore e porto ancora una stupenda emozione. Non vediamo l'ora che Ala torni per vedere il frutto del suo lavoro! Dalla cucina a piantare le piante al riordino e alla raccolta dei beni primari da poter dare a chi non arriva a fine mese. Ala si è superata in ogni cosa. Una presenza UNICA. Con grande stima e affetto Madre Ashanti
