It was my first Workaway experience and I enjoyed my stay (4 weeks). The garden is beautiful and very well maintained and the greenhouse with the outdoor shower is a highlight. The tasks were simple – weeding, mowing the lawn (which I enjoyed the most), fertilising plants, doing mosaic work, and cleaning tasks. Yeshe is very friendly. She took me along a few times and also invited me for meals. I really enjoyed getting to know her perspective of life, which I found inspiring. At the same time, we had little contact overall and communication was sometimes challenging due to the language. Over time, I found the place a bit isolated (I think its nicer to come with another person to this place or have a car to be more flexible). El Paso is a 30 minute walk away. Going on trips required more planning, especially if I didn’t want to walk back after dark. Temperatures were often 15°C, especially in the mornings and at night it was a bit uncomfortable. There was a gas heater available, but I didn’t feel comfortable using it overnight. The accommodation itself was lovely and I especially enjoyed cooking in the outdoor kitchen.

We had such a lovely week and a bit with Azucena (Naia) in June '26. We hit it off instantly on a video call first to arrange her coming here. We hadn't hosted anyone since November due to several uncomfortable experiences, and Naia has restored our faith in Workaway and how it can be such a wonderful exchange and a way to connect with lovely people. Naia is intelligent, intuitive, creative and so helpful and she fitted in instantly, just helping out in a common sense way apart from the official tasks that needed doing. She did so much work in the garden, strimming, weeding and clearing firewood and she's naturally organised and likes order so she did a great job sorting out various kitchen storage areas. She's fit and strong and well able for physical tasks. She also used her creativity to take beautiful photos and videos of our place and my musical instruments. We loved Naia's energy, company and sense of humour and we had great chats. It was a pity the time was so short and busy as I was away to a yoga retreat, but she knows she's welcome back any time. I highly recommend Naia. Thanks for all your help and hope we meet again!

We spent two weeks with Paul and Aine and we couldn't have been happier with our workaway! Paul and Aine are very kind, generous and flexible with everything. We felt very welcome in their home, and throughout the stay it really felt like we were simply spending time with friends. We had many delightful dinners together and shared stories over a glass of wine, and we learned so much about life in Italy as well as about the region itself. I spent one month at David’s place in May 2026, and I truly believe it was one of the best experiences of my life! I met extraordinary people and learned so many new things. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to live closer to nature, meet people from all walks of life, and learn how to live in a community. I am incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to experience this. Thank you, David, for this wonderful experience. I hope to see you again soon!

I've been with David and the crew on and off since November as my first workaway, in total for around 5-6 months, it's my third time coming back and I've had the time of my life throughout all of it. The amount of connections with people you make here is insane, and it's a whole different experience to get into, very different than living in the city. I've enjoyed painting a ton on the ships, meeting all kinds of great people and being a part of the project. I'll be coming back to the project for the coming years for sure, and I'm confident it's a project which will continue for many many years.

I had an amazing time staying with Catherine and Andre,they made me feel very welcome. The house was lovely, and I stayed in my own apartment which was very nice. The area is very beautiful and there is a lot to do. I went on many beautiful hikes straight from the house, and they lent me a bike so I could explore the area further. The food was amazing, with plenty of it, you definitely won’t go hungry. Lots of amazing bread and pastries. I worked in the garden with Catherine which was good, the garden has an amazing view of the mountains. I worked from 8-12, then had the afternoon off to explore the area. It was a very nice balance. I had a very nice stay,and I can’t recommend this place enough.

Working on the farm, combing the grapes and picking cherrys - lots of fun, a bit hot but still good work. Anna and Fabrizio were so welcoming and accomodating. Highlight was getting to visit a dance class with Anna and learn a southern italian dance! Tenno as a town is beautiful and such a cool place to spend a couple of weeks. Thankyou so much for having me :)

I stayed with Isaac for 7 days, and he was very helpful throughout his stay. He assisted me with uploading photos to my website and updating its content. Isaac was flexible, accommodating, and easy to work with. I appreciate his support and would recommend him to others.

My time with Joana and Bruno was fantastic. They are very grounded, easygoing, and welcoming. My work involved helping with the renovation of their new Airbnb, entertaining their three kids, and taking care of daily chores. Their kids are full of energy and always ready to learn something new. My circus tricks received good reviews 😊 and I plan to bring back more when I go back to Colares. Overall it was a lovely stay and I highly recommend this place to anyone.

Krystof is a calm, respectful, and independent person. ☺️ How peaceful presence brought a nice balance to the house, especially during a busy period with many volunteers. He was responsible with his tasks and easy to host. I also appreciated his quiet hobbies, like playing guitar and sewing, which reflected his thoughtful nature. I would gladly host him again

I spent a wonderful month doing a Workaway as a Social Media Manager at this hostel, and it was an incredible experience. Even before my arrival, Lucky arranged a video call to clearly explain my tasks and everything I needed to know about the place. From the moment I arrived, I felt right at home. Lucky was super understanding and always made sure we had enough free time to explore and experience Sri Lanka. He was also very clear and professional regarding my daily responsibilities. Despite being the low season with fewer tourists, the hostel has an amazing vibe. The common areas, like the pool and the board games, make it so easy to connect with everyone. I felt deeply involved in all the activities, from surfing to community dinners, ranging from delicious local food to fun taco nights…It was incredibly easy to bond with both the team and the guests. I highly recommend volunteering here, and I’ll always remember this experience:)

To describe my experience in Assa is very difficult, but I will try my best. The whole experience left me feeling very very thankful and I missed it as soon as I got on the bus. I feel humble and greatful for all the locals that met us with openness, curiosity and generosity. They seemed really greatful for our role as teachers at the language center, which was a great base and opportunity for cultural exchange! Most of the students at the language center were eager to learn and very kind! The teachers and students made it so much fun to teach ! I think that it is a perfect place to learn how to or improve one's teaching, learn about the saharawian culture and language. I was an assistant teacher at the other English classes in the start and after a week I had my own class which was a pleasure. A big thanks to all of the amazing teachers and especially to Nathan for believing in my abilities, helping me, managing the practical things and keeping us all in a safe and good environment. As for the surroundings: Assa is a small city, but I didn't feel like anything was missing. There are two places that accomodates volunteers - a smaller apartment in the city and a house that is a 20 min walk from the city center and 2 min from the school. Lastly I want to say infinite thanks to the other lovely people from all over the world. Everyone did their best to include one another and make the house a nice place to be. Ofcourse I want to thank Lachen for his dedication and generosity! He is really kind and I appreciate everything that he does and did for me while I was staying in Assa!! So all in all I cannot recommend this enough! Thanks for reading <3333

The time I spend on Younes farm was really beautiful. He had so much passion and knowledge for his work and the nature that it was impossible to not learn an appreciation for that as well. I spend around 10 days on the farm and I really learned a lot. I met many nice people there and there was a lot of room for learning about the Moroccan culture. I really can see that Younes has a vision with that project and I was really interesting to be a part of that Thank you for the nice time I would love to visit again :)

I had a wonderful time at Camilla’s place. The family is incredibly welcoming, and I learned so much about gardening during my stay. The work was varied and engaging, and we ended each day with delicious meals together. I am very grateful for my time there and would strongly recommend it to anyone interested.

We loved it at Ojo de Agua! We stayed for 3 weeks with Lane on his beautiful farm and had the best ever time. Lane is a generous host and embodies the spirit of workaway. Your days are spent doing whatever needs doing around the farm- we were watering, cutting up mangoes, sorting coffee, cutting firewood, building stairs, and more! Lane he works with you most of the time, and you are fed 3 meals a day (food is super yummy here!!). You are really living Lane’s life with him, and he is receptive to ideas, full of stories, and a good communicator so super easy to get on with. Lane also goes to town every 10 days so there is opportunities to go to the beach on those days. We also loved playing dominoes with Lane, hanging out with his dogs, and meeting Lane’s neighbours. This is a great place to go to take a bit of a break from travelling and feel looked after while staying busy! Muchos gracias Lane!

We had an incredible experience staying with Natacha and Quentin. They live in a beautiful, lush setting with a 360° view. Both the house and the garden are very warm and welcoming—just like the couple themselves. We laughed together, had deep conversations, and felt right at home. The daily tasks were varied. Although we had a lot of freedom in how we carried them out, Natacha and Quentin provided great guidance. We highly recommend this experience—it was amazing for us. Thank you again 🥰

I really appreciated having Saikal here with me. She stayed with me for more than one month and was a very good, responsible, and reliable Workawayer. She is capable of both physical and creative digital work. She helped with decorating, organizing, painting, and also assisted me with digital design, visuals, and social media tasks. She worked independently, was always willing to help, and maintained a positive and respectful attitude. She took excellent care of the dogs, cats, and other animals. While I was away, she managed the house completely on her own for two days. When I returned, I found everything clean, well-organized, and in perfect order, which I really appreciated. She is a kind-hearted person, easy to live with, and very cooperative. I am genuinely happy to have had her here, and I would absolutely recommend her to other hosts. She is always welcome back. 😊

After almost two months with Clare, Ben, Tilly and Bella, it’s hard to put this experience into words. What started as a Workaway quickly became a second home, and from day one I felt less like a guest and more like part of the family. ❤️ Clare is one of the kindest and most welcoming people I’ve ever met. She is incredibly generous, relaxed and always positive. From the very beginning, she placed a lot of trust in me, whether I was helping around the house, working in the garden, looking after the animals, or even taking care of their home while they were away on holiday. She simply trusted me to use my initiative and get on with things. Ben is just as warm and welcoming as Clare. Yes, his cooking is amazing, but what I’ll remember most are the evenings around the table—talking, laughing, playing games and enjoying each other’s company. Bella and Tilly are both wonderful—funny, clever and full of personality. Bella gave me the best tour of Pontevedra, and thanks to her I got to know the city really well. Tilly taught me how to make the best crêpes ever, although mine will probably never be as good as hers 😉. I was even lucky enough to join some of their private Spanish tutoring sessions, which helped me improve my Spanish and made me feel even more included. By the end of my stay, Bella and Tilly felt like the sisters I never had. I can wholeheartedly recommend staying with this family. Leaving after two months was much harder than I expected. Thank you all for an unforgettable experience—I miss you already and hope to see you again someday. 🌞
