Beschreibung
We operate a non profit farm specialising in therapeutic horse riding and gardening activities for people with varying disabilities and we are based on the beautiful Island of Galveston.
We are 1 mile from a beach and 1 mile from the bay and both are easily walkable / rideable. We also have a great swimming pool that you are able to enjoy in your down time.
In addition to horses, we also have free range chickens, honey bees, dogs and cats. The dogs and cats are in the house and love attention (allergy alert)
The Workaway person would help with general home, farm and animal care duties to include cleaning, fencing, maintenance, gardening, help with horses and riding sessions, and maintaining chickens and bees.
Due to the nature of the farm regarding animals and machinery we prefer our workaways to be aged 24+.
We can also accommodate a “Workaway couple” due the bedroom having a double sized bed.

A traveler with an interest in therapy and horses would get valuable experience here. I have been training and working with horses for many years and would be happy to pass on my knowledge to the right Workaway.
The farm is on a touristic island so there are always events and plenty of things to do.
Galveston is approx 1 hour from the Houston airports.
Arbeit
General farm duties as well as specific horse skills are the main areas of need but not essential.
Some house cleaning and home maintenance skills would be required but we have an onsite farm manager that will guide you through the tasks required. The ability to self manage and be pro active will benefit both you and us.
Computer/social media help always appreciated but not necessary.
There is no work involving the rental accommodation we offer.
The upkeep and well being of all our animals is paramount. You must be an animal lover especially with the cats and dogs as they all enjoy a cuddle and some fuss.

You will have a private room with a double bed with a closet and window seat. There is a shared bathroom with 2 sinks, a shower and toilet.
A Workaway couple could easily share this room.
A full kitchen, microwave, and fridge freezer are available to use along with a great lounge with Netflix etc.
A Walmart plus other grocery stores locally with a huge selection of food.
Literally Hundreds of restaurants and bars on the island.

Biking is pretty easy as island is flat. Could work out other transport as needed.

Lisa (the host) was super communicative and always ready to answer pre visit questions and nothing seemed too much trouble.
Lisa even offers airport pick ups for $80 for work-sways which is far better than anything I could find plus hassle free!
