Hi there!
I live with my two daughters in a small wooden house I built myself, off-grid, in the middle of a 6-hectare cork oak forest near the village of Sonega, just 10 minutes from Porto Covo, on the Alentejo coast.
We live simply, close to nature, and I’m looking for help to care for this land in a regenerative way. -

The volunters will experiment life near the ocean, with many opportunities to experiment water sports, nice tracks, fishing... -
Arbeit
I’m looking for volunteers to support me with:
Light clearing of undergrowth in specific areas (for fire prevention)
Supporting natural reforestation (protecting young trees, spreading native seeds)
Small land care tasks (paths, branches, some pruning, depending on the season)
Optional: support with general maintenance around the land and constrution with wood.
This is not intensive work – it’s about doing what we can, respecting nature’s pace and our own energy.
No special skills are requested, but a taste for physical work in a natural surrounding is important. -

Unterkunft
At the moment we provide dry toilet, hot shower and a tent with bedding. We have space for caravans.
Please note that the nearest village is Sonega, and its 2 km away from our land (15 to 20 min walk). -

This region, Alentejo, is still very simple and beautiful. It has small fishermen villages (Vila Nova de Milfontes, Porto Covo, Zambujeira do mar), it offers beautiful walks along the cliffs or inside along the river (it is worth to know Rota Vicentina’s network). The beaches are amazing, from sandy to rocky there are several different landscapes to explore and ocean sports to experiment (surf, bodyboarding, fishing).
Local public transportation services are no great, so it is important to have a car or to be ready to cycle. We can offer several rides, but can't garantee a transport daily. -
