  A family-friendly space ideal for short or long stays. We have 15 fully furnished one- and two-bedroom apartments located in Cuenca, on the southern edge of the city's historic center. Our location is privileged: on the banks of the Tomebamba River, in a small oasis of greenery in the heart of the city. We live next door to the apartments. We are a middle-aged couple with adult children and two pets. We are passionate about adventure sports and enjoy spending time outdoors. We also have an adventure shop on site. Traveling is one of our greatest passions, and as a family, we support each other to keep the business running when someone is away. We have a close-knit team of four people who help us with the daily operation of the establishment, ensuring warm and efficient service. They are responsible for cleaning, basic maintenance, gardening, and welcoming and seeing off guests during certain hours.

  Apartamentos Otorongo es un espacio familiar ideal para estancias cortas o largas. Contamos con 15 apartamentos completamente amoblados de uno y dos dormitorios, ubicados en Cuenca, en el límite sur del centro histórico de la ciudad. Nuestra ubicación es privilegiada: a orillas del río Tomebamba, en un pequeño oasis de verdor en pleno corazón urbano.
  
  Vivimos junto a los apartamentos. Somos un matrimonio de mediana edad con hijos adultos y dos mascotas. Nos apasionan los deportes de aventura y disfrutamos pasar tiempo al aire libre. También contamos con una tienda de aventura en el mismo lugar. Viajar es una de nuestras grandes pasiones, y como familia nos apoyamos mutuamente para mantener el negocio en marcha cuando alguno está fuera.
  
  Contamos con un equipo cercano de cuatro personas que nos ayuda con la operación diaria del establecimiento, garantizando un servicio cálido y eficiente. Ellos se encargan de las tareas de limpieza, mantenimiento básico, jardines y reciben y despiden a los huéspedes en algunos horarios excepcionales.

  Cuenca is a magical city, steeped in history, culture, and natural beauty. Declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO, it's filled with cobblestone streets, colonial churches, peaceful plazas, and architecture that will captivate anyone. But it's not just visual: it's also a culturally vibrant city. There's a vibrant art scene with exhibitions, live music, workshops, fairs, alternative cinema, and festivals throughout the year. It's also the perfect place for those who enjoy gastronomy: from typical Ecuadorian food in local markets to modern cafes and international restaurants. Cuenca is a safe city, ideal for leisurely strolling and discovering the city slowly. Public transportation is affordable and easy to use, but many prefer to simply walk or bike. Surrounded by nature—rivers, mountains, parks—it's also perfect for those who love the outdoors. The nightlife is laid-back yet charming: bars with live music, cultural venues open until late, and cafes where you can share good conversation with people from all over the world.

  Cuenca es una ciudad mágica, llena de historia, cultura y belleza natural. Declarada Patrimonio Cultural de la Humanidad por la UNESCO, está repleta de calles empedradas, iglesias coloniales, plazas tranquilas y una arquitectura que enamora a cualquiera. Pero no se queda en lo visual: también es una ciudad muy viva culturalmente.
  
  Hay una gran movida artística con exposiciones, música en vivo, talleres, ferias, cine alternativo y festivales durante todo el año. También es el lugar perfecto para quienes disfrutan de la gastronomía: desde comida típica ecuatoriana en mercados locales hasta cafés modernos y restaurantes internacionales.
  
  Cuenca es una ciudad segura, ideal para caminar sin apuro y descubrirla poco a poco. El transporte público es económico y fácil de usar, pero muchos prefieren simplemente andar a pie o en bici. Está rodeada de naturaleza —ríos, montañas, parques— así que también es perfecta para quienes aman el aire libre.
  
  La vida nocturna es tranquila pero con encanto: bares con música en vivo, espacios culturales abiertos hasta tarde, y cafés donde se puede compartir una buena conversación con gente de todas partes del mundo.

  Arbeit

  With the pace of everyday life, we sometimes miss out on some maintenance tasks: things like painting ceilings and walls, polishing and lacquering wood, repairing stucco, or helping with the garden. These are small but important details to keep the space beautiful. That's why we're always happy to welcome volunteers who want to lend a hand and live with us for a while. If you enjoy working with your hands, being outdoors, and being part of a family environment, you'll love it here! In return, we offer accommodation in one of our apartments, a super quiet and green environment, and the opportunity to share with us our way of life: adventure sports, nature, and good vibes :) Our main need is focused on maintenance; however, we can receive help with photography and creating content for social media.

  Con el ritmo del día a día, a veces se nos quedan algunas tareas de mantenimiento sin atender: cosas como pintar techos y paredes, pulir y lacar madera, reparar estucos o ayudar con el jardín. Son detalles pequeños, pero importantes para mantener lindo el espacio.
  
  Por eso, siempre estamos felices de recibir voluntari@s que quieran echar una mano y vivir con nosotros por un tiempo. Si te gusta trabajar con las manos, estar al aire libre y ser parte de un ambiente familiar, ¡te va a encantar estar acá!
  
  A cambio ofrecemos alojamiento en uno de nuestros apartamentos, un entorno súper tranquilo y verde, y la oportunidad de compartir con nosotros nuestra forma de vida: deportes de aventura, naturaleza, y buena onda :)

  Unterkunft

  Any of our fifteen apartments available upon arrival, the same ones our guests stay in, fully furnished, with Wi-Fi, satellite TV, and of course all our common areas, gardens, and nature on the banks of the Tomebamba River. We do not offer restaurant service. The apartments provide all the equipment and utensils you need to prepare your own meals. We will provide a weekly stipend of $40 USD per volunteer.

  Cualquiera de nuestros quince apartamentos que se encuentre disponible a tu llegada , los mismos en los que se alojan nuestros huéspedes, completamente amoblados, con wifi ,television satelital y por supuesto todas nuestras areas comunes , jardines y naturaleza a orillas del Tomebamba.
  No tenemos el servicio de restaurante. En los apartamentos tienes todos los equipos y utensilios para preparar tus propios alimentos, asignaremos un estipendio de 40 USD semanales por voluntario.
