I was allowed to spend three weeks with Arni and Heida. This was my first experience with Workaway and it was fantastic.
Communication was a bit difficult at the beginning as I probably didn't ask enough questions about what was expected. However, after I asked once more, this was sorted out. I always felt very comfortable on the farm and the

I spent wonderful days their place!
Arni’s family are very warm-hearted and interesting.
He came the airport over 2 and half hour one way for picking me up.
I stayed around 1 month in May.
They explained me when they need help. So everything is clearly.
I enjoyed Icelandic meal.
I was freedom to walk around and I saw many amazing Iceland

I stayed 3 weeks at Arni and Heida's place and I had a wonderful time ! They live in a very remote area of Iceland, 2h30 from the main city Akureyri. Though it is quite easy to get there, there is a direct bus from Reykyavik. They picked me up in the city which was really nice and convenient 🙏 The farm is isolated in a bay with a black sand beach
… read more nearby. I had plenty of time to explore the surroundings and I loved it ; a lot of birds watching, you can go hiking and there you won't cross paths with tourists. All the animals are lovely, they have dogs, cats and a lot of sheeps !! A few horses as well always up for some cuddles ☺️.
They needed help mostly for housework ; the house is pretty, not that big, well kept and it is just adults living there ... so for me I found it really easy job. I really enjoyed cooking for them. They have plenty of food, meat, fish (thanks to his captain haha)... The closest village is 8km away and has a tiny supermarket. Arni and Heida are great people, they will always thank you for your job and they are really easy going ☺️
I was there in May so they were busy with the lambing season, I had the opportunity to see how they work at the farm. Although they were not looking for volunteers to work full time at the farm, you can join them when you want and they are always happy to show how they work. I highly recommend to volunteer if you like to spend time with animals, learn about the sheep farmer life and if you like to have chill time on your own (not a place to go out and meet other people). I will definitely go back one day ☺️
Take care 🐑Weitere Bilder

I feel so lucky to have stayed with Árni and Heiða. Mostly I did house work and struggled to learn the challenging Icelandic language. They were both so patient and Árni made amazing food. I was able to help with feeding the sheep twice a day and most of my time was very mellow and relaxed. Not a good place if you like to go out, but if you want

I just came back home from spending 5-6 weeks at Arni's farm and I already feel homesick. I helped out during lambing season and it was a great experience. 100% my favorite Workaway experience so far! -- Arni and his farm were my introduction to Iceland, and I couldn't be happier and more grateful for this. I felt 100% comfortable from day one! Again, thank you Arni for welcoming me into your home. ❤️

This feedback is so overdue!! I had the best time here, I've stayed a couple months and always came back. After a short time this place was more than a workaway and felt like home. This review is way over due :D So, I've spent two months with Árni.
Árni is a very friendly and funny guy and understands the concept of volunteering perfectly. I was never ordered to do something, he was always asking "what do you want to do now?", "could you...?", "is this ok?" and so on. The average ammount of work was totally reasonable and

So to sum it up, thanks to Árni and his family, those two months were utmost pleasurable and life changing experience.
Thank you, thank you and thank you! ;)

We stayed just one week here but it was a really lovely time.
Unfortunately Árni was not at home, but we had so much fun with his dad Gunnar.
Our main task was to train the horses and help with cooking. The landscape is amazing. Directly at the beach with a waterfall behind the house.
Thanks for giving us this opportunity.
