My experience with Jill has been a pleasure and an honor. She's a woman with admirable vitality. She loves learning about everything. She's deeply committed to caring for our planet, and this side of her has also inspired me.
What I've enjoyed most has been my conversations with her about spirituality, philosophy, science, and among others. I
… read more also loved washing dishes with her; it seemed like a beautiful moment in the day.
I made breakfast and lunch on my own, and for dinner, we ate a delicious dish wich she prepared, different each day. Everything was very eco-friendly and healthy.
I worked three hours a day, although she's very flexible about working more hours one day to free up other days.
She was also very kind to me, taking me to the beach one day. I didn't have a car, and where she lives, if you don't have a car, you depend on her.
The only negative point was when I arrived the first day that I realized that I had to sleep in the kitchen-dining room of a house on his property, what is ok, But that home has a room with a Frenchman who got up very early during the week and he needed yo use the kitchen. So, I had to get up at his time, and also which meant less privacy, etc. Even so, William is a lovely guy, and we ended up becoming a lovely friend. And I even liked that he woke me up every day.
In short, a 10-star experience, highly recommended.
Thanks, Jill, for everything. I hope I see you again and thanks for sharing your knowledge.

Francisco stayed here for almost two weeks and did a great many chores that I can no longer do for long. Staying with Jill was our first Workaway experience and we can say we felt very fortunate. … read more to explain to us the reasons why we were doing something in a particular way. Jill gave us a variety of projects and was also incredible with our three year old. They spent time together while we worked and he had a great time.
Learning from Jill’s extensive knowledge about the land and planting as she showed us how to plant a guild, how to prune trees and mulch and the principles of creating shade and canopies and planting for abundance was really interesting and easy to understand when learning in her garden.
The time we spent with Jill sharing meals allowed for other great conversation as she is a thoughtful, open host. We were made to feel very welcome and at ease and we would love to return one day. Thank you Jill.

Our conversations covered a wide range of subjects and I appreciated their willingness to offer wider points of view. We found much common ground. They were true troopers when, on the second to last day (a Saturday) of their stay, the cottage water pump ceased working permanently.
My food forest is in much better shape than it was two weeks ago!
Thank you Stephen, Caz and Seb.

Thank you Jill for the great and unforgettable time with you. You welcomed me with open arms and were always caring and considerate. I did different kinds of work and it was never boring. Mira stayed just one week but did an amazing amount of work in that time. She is a gem! Vom Host für Workawayer (Yuito)
Yuito, a young Japanese man, stayed with me for his first ever workaway for two weeks in December. He has good manners and is easy to get along with. As a city person he found some aspects of country life surprising and not to his liking but he performed all the tasks that he was asked to. Most of the work was cutting mature weeds and long grass
… read more and he got to use a petrol lawn mower for the first time.
He got along well with the other visitors with whom he shared the cottage and had his first experience of bathing in the sea. He is anxious to improve his English language which is already fairly good, although it pays to make sure instructions have been understood. As he gathers more experience I think he will enjoy country life more.

I stayed at Jill's placs for 2 weeks
it was my first home with a Workaway and I was bit nervous but she welcomed me with open arms!

anyway, thank you for the valuable experience!!
Vom Host für Workawayer (Maya)
Maya stayed with me for five days in December, sharing the cottage with a young Japanese man with whom she occasionally collaborated. Planning her visit proved challenging due to several date changes both before and during her stay.
In her request to participate in my syntropic development project, Maya expressed interest in environmental matters

While she completed a variety of assignments when asked, I didn't observe much enthusiasm from her. Perhaps with more experience, she would find greater enjoyment in this type of work exchange.
I appreciated Maya's company, but I felt that our cultural exchange was somewhat minimal.
We had a delightful stay with Jill, spending more than two weeks at her place and enjoying every moment. Jill is a fantastic host who truly cares about her guests. She provided everything we needed, including delicious dinners every night.

We stayed in a cozy cottage close to Jill’s house, which gave us the perfect balance of privacy and the opportunity to connect. Having our own car also allowed us to explore the beautiful surrounding areas.
We will truly miss our time with Jill!
I felt privileged to host Frederick and Sille for two weeks. They are really genuine, caring people. Although they had not experienced some of the work that was needed, they were very willing and able to learn, always checking that they had understood and being careful not to do harm.
We had a lovely cultural exchange with frank discussions about

I appreciated their tolerance of a less than cordial co- worker.
I am sad that we had to say good bye and I miss their positive presence.
Vom Host für Workawayer (Joëlle )
Joelle stayed here for two weeks and proved to be an energetic and willing worker, particularly in tasks that required physical effort or the use of machinery. She tackled splitting firewood, weed eating, pruning, and using the ride-on lawn tractor with enthusiasm and left a noticeable positive impact on my property. She also kept the cottage

However, there were challenges in adapting to the farm's water conservation requirements, which I had explained in detail due to our dependency on rainwater and a septic system. Despite requests, daily laundering of clothes and high water usage caused strain on our resources, which marred an otherwise productive stay.
Additionally, on the last two days, there were some difficulties in shared living arrangements, including late-night calls that disrupted other guests. These are areas for improvement, as they impacted the overall harmony of the stay."
Vom Workawayer (Annie) für Host
I stayed with Jill only for a few days. I loved that she had lots of chickens and ducks, also little Elvi the doggo who is just so so sweet !
Jill is such a lovely lady with a lot of knowledge about many topics. She made very tasty vegan meals for me and my travel buddy even though she's not vegan herself.

Vom Host für Workawayer (Emmanuel)
Emmanuel stayed about a week with me and was a willing and helpful person. His newly implanted tongue stud gave him much pain and made it difficult for him to speak much at first but with effort he overcame that and tried hard to improve his already good English.

Vom Host für Workawayer (Tamo & Sarah)
Tamo and Sarah stayed with me for 10 days in very wet and wild weather. They are well travelled and made themselves at home quickly, sharing in domestic doings; cooking, cleaning and everyday tasks. They were super friends with Elvie the little Swedish Valhund and she misses them.
They are caring, considerate people with whom I enjoyed many

We managed to achieve a great number of finished projects in the food forest, dashing out between downpours and working hard pruning, mulching and at times chainsawing. Chipping also went well due to good skills, organisation and willingness to get the job done. They worked very well on specific projects, such as when the area around the septic tank became flooded after a downpour and the heavy clay needed digging out from around the tank. No supervision needed and the job well done.
It was unfortunate that the wet conditions did not allow for more outings but once they have their own vehicle this will not be such a problem.

Vom Host für Workawayer (Ana Luise )
Ana stayed with me for 10 days on her first workaway experience in NZ. She had a hard start as she had stomach problems when she arrived but kept working determinedly. We have been at Jill's place a little over one week. During our stay, 'water conditions' weren't very comfortable because of long time without rain. Jill cooks delicious and healthy, meals are varied and eating in a pleasant atmosphere. Jill has a lot of interesting stories to tell You during meals and amazing knowledge which willingly shares with volunteers.

Work is varied, good explained, not heavy and moreover you feel there like partner not only worker. If you won't have a car, traveling is rather complicated - big roads and no public transport close.
