I bought a ruin in 1975. It was the ruin of a sheepfold dating from the Middle Ages. I built a house on this ruin helped by my wife Mireille. We had two daughters who grew up in this house. I wanted to make a very original and artistic house.
Then in 1998 we bought the house next door. I didn't do anything there for years because I was an art teacher a few hours away. But now that I am retired I am starting to redo this second house in an artistic way as well. I am very interested in art and architecture. Besides, I studied architecture in the past. So I come often, on average two weeks out of three to work on improving these two houses. I would like to share my experience with people interested in construction even if they have no experience in this field yet. The place is located in Fitou between Narbonne and Perpignan. I am not always in Fitou. In general, I come to receive the volunteers for one or two consecutive weeks.
J'ai acheté une ruine en 1975. c'était la ruine d'une bergerie datant du Moyen-Age. J'ai construit une maison sur cette ruine aidé par ma femme Mireille. Nous avons eu deux filles qui ont grandi dans cette maison. J'ai voulu faire une maison très originale et artistique.
Puis, en 1998 nous avons acheté la maison voisine. Je n'y ai rien fait pendant des années car j'étais professeur d'arts plastiques à quelques heures de là. Mais maintenant que je suis à la retraite je commence à refaire cette deuxième maison de manière artistique également. Je suis très intéressé par l'art et l'architecture. D'ailleurs, j'ai fait des études d'architecture autrefois. Je viens donc souvent, en moyenne deux semaines sur trois pour travailler à l'amélioration de ces deux maisons. J'aimerais faire partager mon expérience avec des personnes intéressées par la construction même si elles n'ont encore aucune expérience dans ce domaine. L'endroit se trouve à Fitou entre Narbonne et Perpignan. Je ne suis pas toujours à Fitou. En général je viens reçois les volontaires une ou deux semaines consécutives.

I would like to be helped to build or decorate the two houses that belong to me and that are artists' houses. There are many things to improve. This does not necessarily require a skill but a taste for artistic creation. If you like cooking this can help too.
Je voudrais qu'on m'aide à construire ou à décorer les deux maisons qui m'appartiennent et qui sont des maisons d'artiste. Il y a beaucoup de choses à améliorer. I spend part of the year in this place. Usually a few days. Then I go home at two o'clock. I am improving these two houses which are rented to tourists in the summer. What motivates me is artistic beauty. If you want to help in an original and artistic creation this is the place for you.
Je passe une partie de l'année dans cet endroit. En général quelques jours. Puis je rentre chez moi à deux heures de là. J'améliore ces deux maisons qui sont louées l'été aux touristes. I love this place!
I was there twice already.
The house is stunning and its really great to leave a piece of your work there. Atmosphere is allways pleasand and relaxed. Thierry takes good care of us to feel well. We were cooking together, spending hours for nice conversations or going to the beach.
