I am a single mother living in a small village in Western Sweden. My daughter is 5 years old. I work as a teacher and live in a big house with my daughter. The house has two floors and a garden. We live quite close to a lake. The forests in our village are full of berries and mushrooms during the summer. During the winter skiing is often possible, not always.

The travellers can learn some Swedish language, and how it is to live in Sweden, close to the nature and the Norwegian border.
I am happy to introduce the workawayer to my friends so that we can be a big community, have parties and make small trips together, explore Sweden. You become a part of the family :) I always see my workawayers as friends, not as workers. We share an experience and learn from each other.
For persons wanting to stay in Sweden and find a job: I have contacts to some branches and educations.

Arbeit

I need some help with my daughter and help with the tasks in the house, like cooking and cleaning, making a fire in the fireplace.
My daughter is a happy child and not too difficult to take care of. During the days she is at the kindergarten, so I just need some help in the evening sometimes, maybe if I want to go to the gym or need to work overtime. She speaks Finnish, Swedish and English, and doesn't have any special needs. The best possible workawayer is willing to play with her instead of only placing her in front of the television. :) For her safety, as a mother, I am mostly looking for a female WorkAwayer.
During the summer I would need some help in the garden.

Unterkunft

The guest stays in his/her own room, other facilities are used together (bathrooms, kitchen). I am not very good at cooking but will buy the ingredients so we can cook together.
I prefer workawayers that maybe intend to stay in Sweden and can stay at my place for a longer time.

The place is quiet and there is not much to do, so it will fit for a person who is interested in nature and hiking, and just taking it easy. It is 140 km to the second biggest city of Sweden, Gothenburg. The capital of Norway is a few hours away. It is easy to move around with bus and/or train, and I can even provide a bicycle / an electronic bicycle.

Vom Workawayer (Martina) für Host

My experience with Kaisa was a bit different, as we first connected here, through Workaway platform, but then due to my other obligations I did not end up going to her place in spring and then I ended up being her cat sitter during summer and then after she returned with her lovely daughter Leila, I got to spend some time with two of them, doing a … read more bit of workaway schedule during less then 10 days. Overall I loved the experience but it was me alone in the house, lovely weather ( I was escaping heat from my native country) and Kaisa was such generous host when absent, I could have friends visiting me, using her car and bike and some leftover food in the fridge! Really enjoyed my month alone in her house and also did travel a lot in west Sweden region. Her cats are lovely as well. There were some challenges with worms and ticks but overall managed well. The village is really small and there is not much to do if weather is bad or if you stay longer then 5 days without some other plans or errands of your own. That was the main reason why I decided not to stay longer as Kaisa is looking for long term person and in the first place I was interested for that. Also once Kaisa and Leila were back in the household, it created different dynamic. There is not much private space once they are in the house, and also a lot of time during week days when Kaisa is working and Leila is in kinder garden I was mostly on my own, since all people I connected to in village left (being other workaway people) and it was really not daily dynamic that I enjoyed even thought I am very independent and can be alone a lot. But without structured plan and things to do or people to meet, this village is really isolating, at least it was for me. Kaisa has full on life, being super busy single mum with full time work and studying, she really needs for person who will help her but also be alone most of free time and just have their projects going on. Leila is amazing kid, full of positive energy and love. Lovely! Liked her a lot! But as every kid needs some attention once she is back home from preschool. Kaisa and Leila are lovely human beings, but for me this setting in this kind of small place and sharing household with them, not having private space did not work out for longer period. Also this is very rural area and there are animals in household who go outdoors as well so there was situation with ticks, which was not pleasant for me, but if you come in summer and for longer consider getting tick vaccination! Kaisa did not communicate this clearly and I think it should be communicated very clearly since some people are sensitive to ticks and there is possibility of getting bitten by tick who transmit diseases in Sweden. But for short cat sitting periods perfect! I am really grateful to Kaisa for this opportunity and I hope she will find proper person to live with her and become part of their little human/animal family.
