RAUNØY, MASFJORDEN
On the small private island Raunoy I have an old farm approx 1 hour north from Bergen, on the western coast of Norway. My father is the main owner, and this place is his birth place and where he grew up. We now use the island as a summer residence, so there might be short periods you will be on your own when we need to go back home for work. You can only get here by private boat, and I or my father will pick you up on the main land. No public ferry or possibility to arrive by car.
On the island you will meet my dog and cat, our goats, hens and the neighbours sheeps. While staying at our place, you can fish, swim and walk in the forest and feel free and close to nature. There are no cars out here, and only two houses on a private small island. Our house is occupied with 7 bedrooms (so you can have your own), kitchen, living room and bathroom. We have TV and 4G wifi. We get our water from collection tanks, and have hot and cold water to shower and wash with, but to drink we bring water from the main land. We have a small island boat, a kayak and a sup board you might borrow in your leisure time.Arten von Hilfe und Lernmöglichkeiten

sorry that it took me so long to write this, but it has to be shared, because it was a wonderful first Workaway experience! I stayed at the island from the beginning of August for two weeks and also four days in Salhus.

My tasks were for example: to isolate the chickenhouse (so they won´t get cold in winter), to collect wild berries for the goats to eat and to go fishing.
Martin and Jorunn (Meretes´ parents) are very nice people and living with them almost felt like being home.
The work itself was easy and I was treated… read more
