I am a multidisciplinary artist and teacher living, now partially, in the Valdivian forest (Selva Valdiviana). The place is located in Cutipay, very close to Niebla. During the past 3 year I've been restoring the two cabins in the land and building an art studio, while participating in cultural projects around the region.
This year I've had to move to Santiago for work, where I am living 80% of the time.
The urgent help I need is someone to stay in one of the cabins, taking care of my cat Pantuff and doing some gardening chores. This help is needed from september 18th, for a minimum of 2 weeks, hopefully more. You will be living and working mostly alone, as I will be out of town most of the time. Thus, this listing is for people who want to be in peace in the forest, doing your own thing and doing some chores (much less than 5 hrs a day).
The place feels beautifully isolated, but is not hard to get to the coast and the city (Valdivia) from here.

Soy un profesor y artista multidisciplinario que vive, ahora parcialmente, en la selva valdiviana. El lugar está situado en Cutipay, muy cerca de Niebla. Durante los últimos 3 años he estado restaurando las dos cabañas que hay en el terreno y construyendo un estudio de arte, al tiempo que participaba en proyectos culturales en diversos lugares de la región.
Este año he tenido que mudarme a Santiago por motivos de trabajo, donde vivo el 80 % del tiempo.
Necesito urgentemente a alguien que se quede en una de las cabañas, cuide de mi gato Pantuff y realice algunas tareas de jardinería. Esta ayuda es necesaria a partir del 18 de septiembre, durante un mínimo de dos semanas, esperemos que más. Vivirás y trabajarás principalmente solo/a/s, ya que yo estaré fuera de la ciudad la mayor parte del tiempo. Por lo tanto, este anuncio es para personas que quieran estar en paz en el bosque, haciendo sus propias cosas y realizando algunas tareas (mucho menos de 5 horas al día).
El lugar se siente maravillosamente aislado, pero no es difícil llegar a la costa y a la ciudad (Valdivia) desde aquí.

I love the culture exchange that happens when one gets to spend time with people from different backgrounds while traveling. For many years (before the pandemic) I had many opportunities to meet interesting individuals and live meaningful cultural exchanges through Workaway and Couchsurfing. I have lived in seven countries and traveled around other 40. Consequently, I am blessed to have many friends around the world, whose unique backgrounds (and cultures) have greatly impacted my life and worldviews.
Even being fairly new in this part of Chile I can share with you what I know from the traditions, history, and culture from here. The Valdivian forest is a temperate rainforest considered one of the oldest in the planet, one of the most biodiverse parts of the world.
Me encanta el intercambio cultural que se produce cuando uno pasa tiempo con personas de diferentes orígenes mientras viaja. Durante muchos años (antes de la pandemia) tuve muchas oportunidades de conocer a personas interesantes y vivir intercambios culturales significativos a través de Workaway y Couchsurfing. He vivido en siete países y viajado por otros 40. Por lo tanto, tengo la suerte de haber hecho muchos amigos en todas partes, cuyos orígenes (y culturas) únicos han influido enormemente en mi vida y mi visión del mundo.
Aunque soy bastante nuevo en esta parte de Chile, puedo compartir con ustedes lo que sé sobre las tradiciones, la historia y la cultura de aquí cuando nos veamos. El bosque valdiviano es un bosque pluvial templado considerado uno de los más antiguos del planeta y una de las zonas con mayor biodiversidad del mundo.

The projects for this season are the construction of a green house, the interior of the pottery studio/storage shed and the regular work in the forest (paths, weeding, etc.). Both cabins overlook isla Mancera and isla del Rey, and the only sounds are from the forest (with the occasional ship passing far away), and of course of the music of your choosing ;) All things up to this point have been done by me and the occasional help of friends. I'm excited to welcome workawayers, as I have always been on the other side of the deal, as a workawayer myself ;)
Los proyectos para esta temporada son la construcción de un invernadero, seguir terminando el interior del estudio de cerámica y el trabajo habitual en el bosque (senderos, desbroce, etc.). Ambas cabañas tienen vistas a la isla Mancera y a la isla del Rey, y los únicos sonidos son los del bosque (con algún barco que pasa de vez en cuando a lo lejos) y, por supuesto, la música que elijas ;) Hasta ahora, todo lo he hecho yo con la ayuda ocasional de algunos amigos y voluntarios. Estoy deseando dar la bienvenida a los workawayers, ya que siempre he estado al otro lado del acuerdo, como workawayer yo mismo ;)

Unterkunft
Workawayers will be staying in a cabin for themselves. Only one to three workawayers can stay at a time. The cabin you will be staying has a fully equipped kitchen that you can use. I will leave it with some basic foods for you. I have no problem accommodating different diets so please let me know if you are vegetarian, vegan, have any allergies or other. I can cook for you and bring more food when/if I'm in town.
Los workawayers se alojarán en una cabaña para ellos. Solo pueden alojarse de uno a tres workawayers a la vez. La cabaña en la que te alojarás tiene una cocina totalmente equipada que puedes utilizar. Te dejaré algunos alimentos básicos. No tengo ningún problema en adaptarme a diferentes dietas, así que por favor avísame si eres vegetariano, vegano, tienes alguna alergia u otra cosa. Puedo cocinar para ti y traer más comida cuando esté en la ciudad.

Workawayers can do lots of things in their free time. To reach the main road workawayers need to walk down the road (20-30 min), or I can give them a ride. The bus stops to go either to Valdivia or to the other side through the coastal road are right at the entrance of the road up to the house. There are many small towns, natural reserves, and beaches you could visit and enjoy. Depending on what I have to do I can join you and we can even travel farther away.
Los workawayers pueden hacer muchas cosas en su tiempo libre. Para llegar a la carretera principal, los workawayers tienen que caminar por la carretera (20-30 minutos), o yo puedo llevarlos en coche. Las paradas de autobús para ir a Valdivia o al otro lado por la carretera costera están justo a la entrada de la carretera que sube a la casa. Hay muchos pueblos pequeños, reservas naturales y playas que puedes visitar y disfrutar. Dependiendo de lo que tenga que hacer, puedo acompañarte e incluso podemos viajar más lejos.

There is no internet but with a mobile sim (Entel or Movistar) you would be ok. The whole time I've lived here I have managed with my phone's internet. No hay internet, pero con una tarjeta SIM móvil (Entel o Movistar) no tendrás ningún problema. Durante todo el tiempo que he vivido aquí, me he apañado con el internet de mi teléfono.

Pantuff is my lovely cat. He's very smart and easigoing, funny and lives 50% of the time or more in the forest.
