    **Closed for the Season**
Come live, work, grow and play with us on our off-grid sustainable green-building project! We are working artists committed to radical self-reliance, love and respect for the earth, participation and oneness. The host is a green-design architect, designer and sculptor. The hostess is a poet, writer and artist.

We live on 44 acres in the high desert of New Mexico south of Santa Fe in a juniper pine eco-system. We are 15 minutes from the villages of Cerrillos and Madrid and two miles from the nearest neighbor; the land is quiet and peaceful. We are building an off-grid shipping container artist compound, with a studio and hoop house garden start-up.

Activities at our place include help with alternative construction for structure building, as well as solar and wind energy maintenance and installation, and help with property land work or road work. At this time we are especially interested in workers that have building experience and know basic tool usage (and beyond). We also need assistance with food production and processing: nutritional planning by plant source per month, soil analysis, preparation, enrichment and amendment, composting, seed planting, cutting propagation, canning, drying and storing, water systems (irrigation, piping, grey water catchment/storage, cisterns and rain catchment and storage), and construction on new hoop houses and greenhouses and raised beds. Our goal is to provide all the vegetables we need for a healthy vegetarian life at our place. We are looking for a commitment of 4-6 weeks minimum, with the season ending in November. Hours above 20/week are compensated for at $15/hr. We expect participate in meal preparation and clean-up and to have a strong sense of self-reliance and respect for our land and each other. We provide community lunches and dinners on weekdays (10 meals a week) and provide staples for breakfast and weekend meals. To work here you must be a self-starter, be able to learn and retain direction on tool use and thrive on delegated tasks. We provide direction and boundaries but expect individuals to take the ball and run with it!

Each worker will be housed in a clean travel camper, in good condition and with running water, bathroom, stove, and refrigerator. In colder months (October, November) be sure to bring plenty of layers as overnights can get into the 40s and even high 30s. We do not have reliable heaters in every camper and some campers have no heaters. One vehicle is available for usage (manual transmission) and bicycles are provided. Cerrillos is 5 miles downhill; Madrid is 10 miles.

Children are accepted. No dogs please (our dog is not good with other canines.) Owners are vegetarians (not vegan) and will provide a healthy vegetarian diet. Meat is discouraged on site.

Please know that if you support the current administration you will not fit into this community. We are science-based intellectuals who also believe in magic, are BLM positive, LBGTQ-friendly, vegetarian, non-smoking, progressive star-beings.

We are located at the base of undeveloped acreage in the Ortiz Mountains--miles of hiking are available without needing to drive to a trailhead. The villages of Madrid and Cerrillos have several shops and restaurants, as well as a local tavern. Downtown Santa Fe is 45 minutes north and has numerous museums, Indian Market and great shows at Meow Wolf. New Mexico is blessed with many hot springs, such as Jemez, Truth or Consequences, Ojo Caliente and others. Cochiti Lake and the Pecos River are available for swimming and water recreation. Georgia O'Keefe's Ghost Ranch in Abiqui is also interesting.

We are accepting new workers during the pandemic, require two weeks self-isolation prior to joining us, or on the land, and strict adherence to gloves and masks on the way to our land. Recommended social distancing protocols with the "outside world" should be followed throughout the duration of the stay or as long as recommended.

*PLEASE NOTE* We are taking only experienced builders or gardeners (3-5 years experience minimum) at this time.

    COVID-19 Protocols

Note to reader: We have based our COVID protocols and decisions on the latest global science. We have decided to err on the side of caution due to the unknown quality of available information and our personal experience with the virus. The safety of the current residents is of utmost importance to us. Thank you for reading, understanding and following these guidelines.

    1. COVID-19 Protocol for arrival. The best information we have is that COVID-19 has a two-week incubation period. Therefore, everyone arriving must have self-isolated for two weeks before arrivingt to live and work. Self-isolation, as defined by the CDC, is limited contact with the public; i.e. no parties, no eating in restaurants, no protest or crowd-gatherings, no physical contact, socializing or living with others outside an immediate family group following the same protocols. Trips to the stores should be limited and must be in full compliance with the masked/social-distancing protocol below.

    2. COVID-19 Protocol while living here. We are closed to all outside visitors who are not actively living on the land and participating in the build/garden project. Recreational trips that do not involve socialization (i.e. a nature hike or driving based sightseeing) are permissible at any point in time. Social engagements, (i.e. concerts, restaurant visits, in-person church/yoga or any other situation where multiple people are gathering, some of whom may not be following protocol) are not permissible while living here. We require all workers to maintain masked/social-distancing protocol when making trips for groceries or supplies. Trips into town for this reason are limited to once per week or as reasonably needed. Currently science indicates the virus is transmitted via droplets. We ask that upon reentering your vehicle on a trip to town you spray your hands with Windex, alcohol based disinfectant or other virus killer. We have been doing this since April.

    3. Disclosure of COVID-19 positive test results and/or symptoms. All residents must disclose any positive test results or symptoms before, during or in a four-week period after departing from their time.

    4. COVID-19 and our residents. The most recent research states that "recovered persons can continue to shed detectable SARS-CoV-2 RNA in upper respiratory specimens for up to 3 months after illness onset." (CDC, July 22, 2020, ) Due to our strict COVID-19 policy, and because of the inconclusive science surrounding infection, and the close nature of our living and working conditions, we cannot accept anyone who has had COVID-19 for this season. We will review and revise this policy as we see fit for the 2021 season.

Helpers will learn off-grid, sustainable building practices and how to implement permaculture design with a clean aesthetic in a self-reliant community based on respect, love, communication, creativity and joy. We contribute our ideals as part of an alternative to capitalism--one that fosters independence from our debt economy and public utilities. Reuse of material, reduction of waste and a small impact upon the land are our goals.
